Greetings self hosters!

I'm looking for suggestions on a document management service.

I currently use next cloud (AIO) to live collaborate, edit, and store my documents, but I want to be able to embed them in my WordPress site. Currently this is impossible to do nicely with nextcloud.

Do you happen to know of a self hostable document sharing solution that allows me to use the next cloud WebDAV credentials and embed those documents into my WordPress pages? Also if there is a full text search functionality that I can also embed into WordPress?

Any suggestions would be great! I am testing filestash.app and it works, but its not super reliable and does not offer a built in full text search despite the tin claim.

What would you do?

Filestash developer here. It's the first time I hear about anyone having reliability issue with Filestash, can you provide more details about the issues you've run into as without specific examples, it’s difficult to identify and fix any potential problem.

Regarding full-text search: There are multiple approaches. One such implementation is open-sourced and available here: https://github.com/mickael-kerjean/filestash/tree/master/server/plugin/plg_search_sqlitefts

The default search is indeed a recursive because not everyone fully understand that creating a full text search index come with downloading potentially a lot of data and if you use a storage like S3 which charge a lot for bandwidth could cause some large billing issues ....

Might check out Paperless-ngx. I know it has full text search. It OCRs everything you put in it. Not sure about integrating it with Wordpress though.

Why do you need it to be in a Wordpress page? I can’t quite see what you’re trying to accomplish.

There a handful of approaches that may be helpful for this. I don't want to make any assumptions on what you've tried, yet, though. Would you mind clarifying what you've given a go at, so that we don't offer something that doesn't do what you're looking for?

I've tried a lot to make nextcloud work by default, even tried hiring a Dev to build me a plugin that would allow me to embed documents and full text search into my WordPress site but came up empty.

Filestash has been useful to get the documents from next cloud to WordPress via WebDAV, but it breaks too often for me to want to continue to use. There's also no way to add searching of the document to the WordPress site.

All I really want is to continue to use nextcloud as the storage and editing and have some intermediary software serve the files as embeddable links and provide a full text search of the documents as well.
