When I come across a sticker I really like, like a band at a show or something, I usually buy 2 so I can stick one somewhere without much thought and put the other in a drawer for these reasons

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago

Unless it's a sticker for a skateboard brand or punk band, in which case, straight on the nearest street sign.

[-] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 1 points 2 hours ago

You can do that for trump stickers too. For example you can slap "trump//what's his name" on STOP signs and other unpopular signs. Maybe a fully cover some speed limit signs.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

You can, and it wouldn't be bad, but it's so hard to do when you have these two options:

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

My niece, the psychopath.

[-] tweeks@feddit.nl 7 points 7 hours ago

The trick is to cut out the sticker (with the film underneath) and use paste gum to just place it where you want it. You can then remove it and stick it somewhere else whenever you want.

[-] cazssiew@lemmy.world 15 points 11 hours ago

I just realized I don't have tattoos for the same reason I don't stick stickers.

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Who the fuck buys a single sticker?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

Depends on the type of sticker. They sell big stickers individually in a lot of places and some places have custom-made specialized stickers which they will sell individually.

When I was a kid, there was a kiosk in the mall that had dozens of sticker rolls and you could pull off as many as you liked from any roll you wanted and buy them. That was awesome.

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 0 points 4 hours ago

Upload that motive to an online copyshop and oder in bulk.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I'm guessing that's exactly how they do it. But they still sell them individually to their customers. The customers seem willing to pay or they wouldn't keep selling them.

You also have situations like a band selling a sticker. They're not going to sell you a roll of stickers.

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 0 points 4 hours ago

You also have situations like a band selling a sticker. They’re not going to sell you a roll of stickers.

Scan that sticker, upload the scan, order it in bulk. Anxiety gone.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

I still don't think you're getting this. The band buys in bulk. The fan buys the single sticker.

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

Fans can order the same sticker off the internet in bulk by uploading the motive to a copyshop. What's there not to understand? Did you even read what you posted here? It's about the anxiety where to put a single sticker. And that is gone when you just scan and upload the motive to a copyshop and order a stack for peanuts.

Reputable places won't print shit that infringes copyright.

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 0 points 57 minutes ago

Reputable places won’t print shit that infringes copyright.

So what. Use an disreputable one. They are cheaper anyway.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 3 hours ago

Or they can't because it's a local band and also they want to support the band.

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

Or they can’t

They can.

because it’s a local band and also they want to support the band.

They still have to buy that single sticker because that's the thing that is getting scanned, duh.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -1 points 3 hours ago

Dude, why are you so against someone buying a sticker at a show?

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

Dude, why are you so against someone buying a sticker at a show?

I'm not. Just buy more if you have anxiety where to put it.

[-] EVERGREEN@lemmy.one 1 points 5 hours ago

See I’d argue if I buy a single sticker it was with purpose and I know exactly where I am going to put it (car, laptop, mug, whatever…). But if it’s a random sticker given to me I’d agree with OP.

[-] woelkchen@lemmy.world 0 points 5 hours ago

Just buy a pack. They're stickers. They cost nearly nothing to manufacture. Me and my friends upload sticker motives to Eastern European online copyshops all the time and order 100 at a time, then split the bill. It's dirt cheap.

[-] Pickle_Jr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 13 hours ago

Either a coffee mug or laptop is the answer

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

I have never been able to put a sticker on a laptop case. Just something about it feels wrong to me. I can't explain it.

[-] Scolding7300@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Won't be able to put it in the dishwasher then most likely

[-] conciselyverbose@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 hours ago

A lot of travel ones aren't really intended for anything but hand washing.

[-] dingus@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

Idk I wash my laptop in the dishwasher all the time

[-] DashboTreeFrog@discuss.online 41 points 20 hours ago

I used to be like this but then started pre-deciding items that would be just plastered with stickers so I can just buy whatever cool stickers I want, knowing there's a place for them.

My water bottle and laptop for example are now covered in stickers

[-] Apytele@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago

I bought a chunk of foam presentation board and put it in those metal snap together frames where you can buy two sides at a time for $10 so you can mix and match the lengths to get the size you need and now I have a "sticker wall" that I can take with me from apartment to apartment.

[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 23 points 19 hours ago

I fairly recently learned that they sell covers that go over laptops so you can move between employers and bring your sticker collection with you (and bonus, not annoy your IT department as much).

[-] BluJay320@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 17 hours ago

Did the same thing with my PC tower. Got about half of the side covered

[-] slackassassin@sh.itjust.works 5 points 14 hours ago

Just Stitch on mine. My son placed it and laughed saying, "You're about that Stitch life."

[-] felixwhynot@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Everyone is missing the option where you put them in a box and take it around and trade them

[-] SacredHeartAttack@lemmy.world 52 points 21 hours ago

I recently found my Radiohead Kid A stickers that have been waiting for the perfect placement since 2001.

[-] quixotic120@lemmy.world 16 points 19 hours ago

The secret is to just have a sticker area and then cover it in shit

That’s why the one wall in my little office nook is covered in anime characters and such

[-] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

cover it in shit

well then the stickers won't stick...

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

I have a sticker I want to make into a Christmas ornament. It's an image of santa on the toilet. It's been in the drawer for, uh, how long have I been married? A while.

[-] bassomitron@lemmy.world 12 points 19 hours ago

Meanwhile, my toddler will immediately place a sticker on literally the first thing they see. 🫠

[-] NorthWestWind@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago
[-] namelivia@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

This is so relatable, I've carried my bag of stickers while moving houses three times by now.

[-] xorollo@leminal.space 6 points 17 hours ago

Make your collection communal at work. It's better than a candy bowl and just as much fun.

[-] antonim@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 20 hours ago

Perhaps the real right place for the sticker was the drawer all along?

[-] jaybone@lemmy.world 6 points 19 hours ago

The friends we made along the way.

I always knew I wasn't like the others

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 8 points 20 hours ago

I had a big collection until I got a large toolbox in my garage. They're all stuck on it now and when I get new ones they instantly go there also.

[-] fibojoly@sh.itjust.works 5 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago)

I love that my kids actually do not do that and stick stuff anywhere they can. With age they understand some surfaces are off limits so as to not damage them, but my windows and light switches never stood a chance...

[-] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 7 points 21 hours ago

Uh oh! I have a few hundred brewery stickers that I've put up. Some are even duplicates between my home glass display and my work locker.

Am I a double psychopath?
