The wind is really picking up out there.

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 6 points 32 minutes ago

I just got out of the pool cause the wind was genuinely making it not just cool, but actually cold

[-] tone212_@aussie.zone 5 points 34 minutes ago

It’s gross out there and the sun is starting to poke through too.

I had the windows open driving home, it was like a hair dryer was going off in my car.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 31 minutes ago

Hahaha. A free blow dry.

Christmas day report 2.

That cousin who totes disrespected me last week. 🙄

Started talking about all of us going on holiday with him to Ireland.

This is after he said the bus tour operator on his last holiday was boring and would point out the most boring things, like ancient ruins of monasteries

and I said I'd be "Stop the bus!" and would be excited to see the ruins of the places where monks worked to save western civilisation after the fall of Rome.

To him the tour would be seeing places where some of his ancestors ( the men ) came from . I truly would not have enough eyes to roll.

Talking with him yesterday was a good exercise on how a very average sexist copes with talking to a woman who is not cowed by him and is way smarter and knows stuff better ( not perfect, just better ) The copium was spread thick.

"That's just your opinion."

changes subject

starts to get passive aggressive

appeals to other people

Braved the shops to get groceries for dinner. Apart from the heat, it's not that busy actually. Plenty of parking and roads weren't mad.

Very surprised.

Christmas day report.

Some of you may remember me writing about my BIL who is a hoarder and for whom we spent a lot of energy and time cleaning up his house and yard. Weeks of horrible disgusting dirty work.

He does not have much furniture, nearly all that he has he inherited from his dad, just like he inherited the house. And he does need to replace his kitchen and bathroom .

So I organised a nice big gift card from ikea to him as a present. Just to get him looking at the website or in the actual store as well as getting something that could make his life better.

He opened the present. He was furious.

It seems to me he was counting on cash so that in our usual cash gift exchange he would come out even. Take into account he doesn't make any meaningful contribution to xmas dinners or any fam celebration, he usually comes out ahead.

I had no idea he was that much of an unredeemed Scrooge.

Characters like this in my so-called family are the reason why I don't talk to half of them anymore. They are just either takers, enablers or ignorant. I washed my hands of them and now only connect with the people who are worth it, and I'm much happier. Christmases are sooo much better now!

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 points 1 hour ago

just like he inherited the house

ooh.

Similar thing happened to mum. Boys got the farm (big farm) she got nothing. Her mum made sure her daughter got her little place in WA and completely wrote her sons out of the will. Still tense after all these decades. Different times sure but still rough.

Anyway tell your BIL that he's being silly and should be grateful.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 52 minutes ago

should be grateful.

that would never occur to him

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 4 points 1 hour ago

Well he just got uninvited next year then didn’t he.

It's a sleepy day today. Made the trek in the heat to get cat food for the extended cat family and now I'm done.

[-] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 11 points 1 hour ago

Gypsy has come for a visit. The cats are unimpressed.

[-] Eagle@aussie.zone 3 points 42 minutes ago

Pats for Gypsy's soft head.

[-] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 points 18 minutes ago

Gypsy is beautiful 😍

Anyone interested in doing the Hobart to Hobart with me next year? We just float around on a boat in Hobart and sink some piss. If asked we claim we finished really early.

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 points 49 minutes ago

Having experienced a really terrible harbour cruise in Hobart many years ago I am very reluctant to step foot on a boat there again. Actually, I've had a terrible cruise experience on Sydney Harbour too. I think I'll stay on dry land.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 1 hour ago

Sure. Are you supplying the boat coz I don't have that kinda dough, Mr Moneybags?

[-] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 4 points 1 hour ago

“This boat? Stolen?! Nah mate we just found it out here”

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 39 minutes ago

I know nuffin. I'm here for the free booze.

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 hour ago

Sounds safer than Hobart Sydney ...lol

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 1 hour ago

Tech support complete. Basically accessing sensitive docs sent by a law firm.

Without giving too much away ol' boy is giving a medico legal opinion on a poor young lady who has been through the wars. Family suing a doc (not the ol' boy thankfully) completely unrelated to underlying issues.

Anyway this is discovery shit.. defendants' (the doc.) file is a GB or a 1400 pg pdf, extremely detailed entire history (which is a lot, down to everything done intra-daily). Plaintiffs' bringing 240KB lol (shouldn't laugh but the discrepancy is absurd).

When these guys retire or semi-retire, some of them are hit up by either the defendant or plaintiff's lawyers depending on their history of siding with whoever. Some sell themselves to the highest bidder, others do it because it's right, others to protect their colleagues, some pro-bono or a combination.

Sounds awful but it do be that way. And this shit drags on like you wouldn't believe (and naturally it's the lawyers that win).

In any case, moral of the story is record everything.

Best thing about today: hot cross buns go on sale

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

Fuck I could so go for a warm chocolate hot cross bun today 🤤

But bloody bugger you for reminding me they exist, because I'm gonna be craving them all day now!

[-] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 11 points 3 hours ago

Not a good day to be fluffy :(

[-] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 2 hours ago

My ginger fluff is melting but in front of the air con, but the black one is outside (in the run) basking in the hot sun, comes inside to cool off then goes back out. Black cats are weird.

[-] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 5 points 2 hours ago

Gibson's ancestor were peak predators of the saharas. They can handle a little heat don't worry

[-] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 7 points 3 hours ago

This fluffy boy reckons it's a perfect day for lap snuggles. Not sure I agree but he's hard to say no to.

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 points 3 hours ago

Konstas has not disappointed. This is hilarious 🏏

[-] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 2 hours ago
[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 4 points 2 hours ago

Damn, he’s been bowled out. :(

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 4 points 2 hours ago

It’s been a good watch. He’s done well

[-] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 7 points 3 hours ago

What a gun. I wish I had some of that 19 year old confidence and invincibility (and skill)

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 11 points 4 hours ago

Tech support for p's on boxing day :(

The speed at which that generation will throw up their hands and say it's all too hard never ceases to amaze me.

[-] Nath@aussie.zone 7 points 3 hours ago

I had it at the inlaws yesterday, only he changed his Admin password from what I set it to and doesn't know what it is. I didn't have a USB on me that can boot to a live Linux image and hack that.

So I'll need to go back in a day or two. 😭

[-] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 8 points 3 hours ago

Going to take some drastic action today. Drastic carby action. Heading out to buy some beer 🍻

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 3 hours ago

Get some low carb. Win/win

[-] Baku@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

It's hotter outside than in, but it's so overcast outside that it actually feels reasonably cool out there

E: the pool is unpleasantly chilly without any sun. Should've gone in yesterday when it was sunny!
