Seems to me that the supreme court shouldnt be able to be “urged” to rule the wants of an executive

Have you not been paying attention? They’re just an old and shitty theatre troupe performing the whims of the highest bidder.

Just one more thing that American voters simply do not care about.

Way too late for that lol

Wouldn't that make him pro-China?

He’s pro-money and power. Initially, he indicated that he would let the ban pass. Then, TikTok execs went to Mar-a-lago and he has changed his tune. What changed? Probably they bribed him.

President Trump alone possesses the consummate dealmaking expertise, the electoral mandate, and the political will to negotiate a resolution to save the platform while addressing the national security concerns expressed by the Government—concerns which President Trump himself has acknowledged,

What an absolute load of hot garbage. Electoral Mandate? Fuck right off.

It's sad that most people don't know that a plurality isn't the same thing as a majority

Weird to see trump and the ACLU on the same side for a change.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 13 points 6 days ago

ACLU is against it due to principals of freedom of speech not that TikTok is some worthwhile company.

Trump is against it because he wants a big bribe for them to continue to operate. He has always been a blackmail king so this is right up his alley.

It's like RFK trying to ban medical commercials. I agree with him under this one circumstance, but for entirely different reasons lol.
