The latest public opinion data from independent research organization Angus Reid Institute yielded staggering results, demonstrating a major decrease in Liberal leaning voters. The online survey was conducted between Dec. 27 to 30, 2024 and sampled more than 2,200 Canadian adults who are members of the Angus Reid Forum.

If an election were held today, Angus Reid reports that 45 per cent of voters say they would support the Conservatives, 21 per cent the NDP and 16 per cent the Liberals.

Along with his own caucus, nearly half (46 per cent) of Canadians and three-in-five (59 per cent) current Liberal supporters say it’s time for him to step aside. Another two-in-five (38 per cent) Canadians believe Trudeau should call for a general election himself when he returns from his holiday break once Parliament resumes on Jan. 27, the polls read.

Trudeau’s popularity has also massively declined amongst those who voted for him in 2021, according to Angus Reid. Fifty-one per cent of Liberal voters in the last federal election say they disapprove of Trudeau’s performance as prime minister.

While impressions of Trudeau have grown negative over time, there has not been much increase in positivity towards rival Conservative (CPC) leader Pierre Poilievre. In assessments from Angus Reid Institute’s earlier polling data from this month, 37 per cent of Canadians said they had a favourable view of Poilievre. The number now stands at 38 per cent – or statistically unchanged.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh’s trajectory of public opinion has been on a steady decline since the 2021 election, the data says, and three-in-five (58%) Canadians say they have an unfavourable view of the NDP leader.

Trudeau and the liberals deserve to have low support because he's done nothing to help the average Canadian.

The problem is that the Conservatives are basically Trump light morons, so they are not an option.

So straightforward. You nailed it

Stupid ass Canadians. Fuck we can't afford to have our own trump.

We're still dumb and racist. Singh has been fighting the good fight and he's not even close to the other guys.

Yeah, I'm an NDP voter. Lol

People seem to think he's a Trudeau puppet because he agreed to work with the liberals on some issues in exchange for pushing through the dental care thing.

God forbid that our government parties work together on some issues rather than fighting each other like how it is down south.

I feel your pain. NDP voter too, unfortunately in a deep blue part riding.

If I were the NDP I'd be going all out right now it seems like a great time to make pitches to the public:

They need people to donate time and money.

I vote NDP... LPC and CPC both suck. Don't let the third option die out...

This is the fault of Trudeau and his cronies. If they tried not being shitheads, they wouldn't be in this mess

You can pretty much trace the collapse to Trudeau's "I don't care, do you?" response about housing.

His support, especially among young Canadians, absolutely crated at that.

One thing the LPC needs to learn is to empathize: yes, housing a provincial responsibility, yes, inflation is global. But when you explicitly, and callously, and PUBLICLY wash your hands of it, you're telling voters "Fuck you, we don't care, you're on your own!".

Poillievre, despite being a lying, disingenuous, opportunistic weasel, at least speaks to people's anxieties. He won't do fuck all, and will almost assuredly make it worse, but at least he validates them. That's important, and the centrist do-nothing knob-twiddlers in the LPC could learn a thing or two about how to acknowledge and empathize with voters.

Centrists the world over have been fucking useless at this, and they're getting their asses handed to them as a result because they're used to working like it's 1994 and money will happen no matter what they do. Now they're having to work for the first time in their lives: stake out actual positions, take actual action, and they're trapped between voters that want results, donors that want the money train to keep rolling, and fascists willing to lie to both sides.

Excellent. Polievre's plan of "hair guy bad" is working after the billionth iteration. Wait for "only way to save you money is lower taxes for rich people and you get American healthcare" except the healthcare part uses the inside voice.

PPs plan is agreeably stupid af... But trudys support is nobody's fault but the liberal party.

Even staunch long term liberals are fucking tired of him.
