I just realized that lemmy.world has terms of service and now I'm curious if lemm.ee does as well? I'm starting to realize I should have done more research before setting up my communities and accounts.

This post from the sidebar is probably the closest thing to one, at least that I could find. https://lemm.ee/post/401063

Hey there Realitista,

Lemm.ee does not have a .world style TOS, in part because it is the belief of the admin team that overly lengthy and complicated rules are

a: difficult to read in the first place, much less remember
b: create loopholes which are actively abused

It is not an objective of the Lemm.ee admin team to curate your content or experience for you. You can find our administration and moderation policies here: https://lemm.ee/post/401063

We do have a few legal requirements relating to privacy(GDPR) that you can find in our legal document here: https://lemm.ee/legal

The long and short of it on lemm.ee: Don't do anything criminal, don't do anything that exposes the server to liability, and you'll be fine.

There is also a bit of an unspoken rule I refer to as the law of PITA bread. Given that this server is run entirely on a volunteer basis, any users or actions that cause Pain In The Ass for the admins will eventually lead to a ban, even if it doesn't specifically violate any rules.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, and I appreciate you reaching out!

As commented by others, there is a Privacy Policy in the footer, and a basic administration policy in the sidebar.

At this time we have not seen the need for a formal ToS. Moderation has always been 100% at our discretion and we strive to be as reasonable and fair with our rules.

In less corporate-speak - we are pretty chill and as long as content is legal and respectful, we generally keep our hands out of stuff.

Edit: Ella beat me, dang it. :)

AFAIU (IANAL, much less an Estonian one) what's usually considered ToS aren't really necessary because you're not entering a contract with lemm.ee that would bind anyone to anything -- e.g. you're not paying usage fees so there doesn't need to be a stated policy on sitebans because if you went to court over a ban the court would ask "which services did you buy that they did not provide?", then throw the case out.

That said this is the EU so there's a privacy policy linked in the footer. It's a GDPR requirement.
