Has anyone heard from StudSpud lately? Haven't seen them around like usual.

I was just in the kitchen and I saw something at the back door. I walked to the door and a cat was there, just staring. How strange.

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 6 hours ago

I think Miss Meow got sent to you by accident.

I have a plan on how to get a full night's sleep. Let's see how it plays out.

Goodnight all ❤️

[-] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 3 points 7 hours ago

Do share how it goes!

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 8 hours ago

Bill keeps looking for Miss Seagoon. 😔

[-] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 7 hours ago

I thought the night flu tabs would help me sleep, but they didn't. I'd really like to sleep but can't get comfortable ☹️

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 7 hours ago

You need one dose of Miss Meow.

That’s what I’m prescribing you.

Nice one. Perfect timing.

I have a book about cats trying to take over the world.

I listed what I thought was junk from my recent house cleanout on eBay and I'm getting multiple offers within a couple days.

These people are trying to negotiate the price down, even though the listings are buy now with no ability to make offers, which is annoying. Also eBay selling fees are quite expensive, so have to take that into account in accepting lower amounts. But I'm happy to be getting some $$ for this stuff.

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 8 hours ago

Peas and gravy.

The perfect combination.

🤤

I was out getting Melbcat’s antibiotics and other stuff so I got a chance to hit up 4 shops looking for a liquid that wasn’t the huge bottle of Finish. Finally I found two different brands in an IGA.

More experiments. More bitching.

I thought Somat Excellence Duo Power Gel was like $9 but it rang up at $17 making it more expensive than the Finish for half as much. (The laundry liquid bottle leaked in the bag so I don’t think I have a receipt to take back.) It claims to have a degreaser and something to make things shine which I assume is a rinse aid.

Be careful with this one. It has two holes in the top, the liquid is very runny and pours out of the bottle fast and excessive. I wiped out the excess and carefully poured in a few drops. Ran the rapid cycle and opened it to be hit by perfume. Ran a water only rapid cycle as a rinse.

Verdict: There was less residue and no visible spots of detergent however I could still faintly taste the detergent and ended up manually rinsing everything under the tap. Also the utensils weren’t properly cleaned. I could have added more of this detergent but was trying to avoid re-rinsing under the tap.

The Morning Fresh dishwashing gel was $6. I don’t like the smell of the Morning Fresh you use in the sink but tried this anyway. It’s thick and came out in a small glob. More generous usage than the first detergent so we’ll see.

I’m using it on the pet bowls and the utensils that didn’t get cleaned properly the first time. Same deal, rapid cycle followed by same for rinse without soap. (So I’m not doing 2x 1-3 hour cycles.)

After the first wash I opened it and could distinctly smell the soap. The utensils looked clean this time but after a second wash, putting the forks points up this time, and using more detergent I would hope so. Ran the ‘rinse’. (There doesn’t seem to be a separate rinse cycle.)

Verdict: Still taste detergent. Rinsing it myself.

Filter was clean, the second rack not in use was folded down.

For the stacking I could get a smaller utensil holder to take up less space (as putting them on the wine glass holder doesn’t really work) because the dishwasher doesn’t take much for its size.

But I don’t know. I paid a lot for this thing and while it kind of cleans and technically helps me shift the dishes, it is so much more hassle than it’s worth.

I’m already flat out dealing with constant other crap and instead of making life easier this dishwasher leaves me buying expensive detergents and I end up doing things twice anyway.

I may save this for emergency use only because kind of just ends up as hand washing and drying it yourself with extra steps. If I knew it would be like this I would have just kept my money.

TL;DR

Holy Shit. The Substance. What a unique movie.

[-] tone212_@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Loved this movie, I'm glad it's getting the recognition it deserves. It was a full-on watching experience in the cinema, having never seen this type of horror movie before.

[-] dumblederp@aussie.zone 3 points 8 hours ago

Normally I avoid horror, but I love sci-fi, which it also is. Eg, Upgrade and Hardware. The colours were fantastic.

[-] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 points 8 hours ago

From what I've read it seems to sound very familiar to a movie called "beauty water". Very similar.

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 5 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

It gave me nightmares :(

Edit: I spent the next day cleaning my mind with other movies.

If you have a kindle from 2013 onwards they can now all be jailbroken.

Jailbreak is called WinterBreak.

Edit: just did mine and installed a far, far superior book reader than the built in kindle one. It has all the features that you would expect from an ebook reader.

Welp, airport parking was definitely the best choice given how late I ended work - 5:45pm - and thanks to cruisey holiday traffic I made it in time to spare for a bite and a drink. And got all my chores done at home beforehand. My feet are sore from doing a whole day out after a while, looking forward to relaxing...

E: noooo I ended up one seat away from the noisiest kids on the plane. Rip. At least I remembered to bring my headphone adaptor this time! Now to wait the 4 hours or so to head west...

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 9 points 11 hours ago

Apparently someone stole a bike in an aggravated burglary, rode up the street and set fire to two acres of grassland yesterday here in sleepy pt. lonsdale. So random. Taken away in cuffs on the main strip lol.

[-] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 10 hours ago

I feel like meth was involved somehow.

[-] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 8 points 11 hours ago

Set fire to 2 acres of grassland at this time of year? What an idiot

[-] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 8 points 11 hours ago

Shit keeps happening, both big and small, and it’s really affecting my ability to cope. I just want something to go smoothly.

What’s the ruling on going out in public with your SO in matching tracksuits?

[-] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 10 points 12 hours ago

All good homie

[-] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 9 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Yeah but no, but yeah but no

[-] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 8 points 11 hours ago

Don't. That's the ruling. We are not Japan or the US.

With the possible honorable exception of the wearing of Carlton Blacks. But this ONLY applies if you live in Carlton.

There's no rules, do whatever you want. I think it's a big think in Japan. Osoroi my quick googling tells me. I mostly wear black and have mostly wound up with girls who wear black, it wasn't intentional, just #melb_things.

I have made good progress today. I acquired good drugs, managed to spend all day sitting up and even managed a proper breakfast and lunch. Dinner was an iced bun from the freezer, but two outa three ain't bad. I even managed a shower and brushing my teeth. Tomorrow I might even feel well enough to floss!

Mr Woof is definitely hoping the progress continues, he has a physical therapy program worked out involving many walkies that he wants me starting ASAP

Between heart problems and his teeth deteriorating Tommy probably doesn't have very much time left, he's struggling to eat now. But we're still having lots of snuggles 💕

[-] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 7 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Poor old baby. Maybe some pate style food mashed with warm water might be slurpable and encourage him with the smell. Love him and give him everything he wants ❤️

[-] Eagle@aussie.zone 9 points 13 hours ago

Many kisses atop Tommy's furry head 💕

Well that was a waste of 30 minutes with my car insurance people trying to ask for a discount with failure.

I need a good movie for tonight.
