You should see some of the handwringing going on over the idea that the mere existence of Threads is a scheme designed specifically and only to destroy the fediverse (as opposed to, y'know, their actual competition, Twitter). Way too many people throwing around the phrase Embrace, Extend, Exterminate without actually understanding what it means or how it might realistically apply to this situation.
