Youtube is also now forcing you to turn on watch history for recommendations. Needless to say, I‘ve been on YouTube a lot less lately. (And that‘s probably a good thing.)
No one here considers that we might not need a "competitor" for YouTube at all. Videos have been a disaster for the web. Information that can easily be relayed and digested in a 1000-word article is instead stretched into a 30-40 minute video with ad breaks. The less aid about TikTok, Instagram, and other bullshit video platforms the best. We don't need this shit. We need to go back to Web 1.0. Web as a means to share information and talk to people. There's no room for ShitTube there.
Give up padme googledala I have the voyager ground
Honestly, as soon as there's a video sharing site and a few of my friends move, I'll be good to just abandon the web for Gemini.
My favorite is when it says try using a supported browser, but I'm actually using a supporter browser it's my operating system you don't allow you fucks. I had to use a windows computer on purpose the other day💩
Arrr!
Since when has it been anything BUT advertisements or paywalls?
It's a mess that at the moment there are no real competitors with the amount of Videos of YouTube. The only possibility at the moment is to use a Frond-end, like JewTube, CloudTube, Piped, a Desktop client like FreeTube, or if you need to share a YT vidieo, to watch it sandboxed in the search results of Andisearch and copy the link from there.
YouTube ReVanced. Problem solved.
Well, yes. We've all been watching this happen in real time for 15 years now. How is anybody still surprised?
The only hope we have, and it's a tiny hope, is to build another world wide web that returns to the old ways and have it catch on in popularity, at least to early 2000s levels, to make it could.
No reason we couldn't do this today, but...eh. It won't happen. The good times are over. Forever.
