All the time. That's why I'm going from a cheap Amazon chair to a Steelcase.

All of the Steelcase chairs at my employer have survived some serious rough handling for multiple years. +1

That’s good to hear, what do they cost on average? Wondering if you have a specific recommendation.

I paid 1600 for mine. Where i would constantly shift in other chairs... i can sit for extended hours in my chair and not feel like i hate life after.

I also have a sit/ stand desk. So when we get to hour 4 or 5 i can just stand up for an hour then sit again and I'm good.

Good to hear. I got a remanufactured one with a 12 year warranty so I'm guessing I'll have it for a while.

That might be an idea, what’s neighborhood of the chair?

Well new steelcase chairs start at $6-800 and the good ones are like $1400. Which is pretty nutty. But you can find refurbished models from $3-600 through Crandall or BTOD. You can also find deals locally for even lower but YMMV. Locally I can find a leap v1 for $150 but it's from the 90s and pretty used up. I bought a remanufactured Crandall for $500 the foam, fabric, and casters are all new and upgraded.

They help but I still get tailbone and lower back pain. I’ve found a foam roller also helps a ton.

Yeah. All the ergo communities say stretching > chair/desk > keeb > mouse. I really should stretch more :P

If it's just a wooden seat then I'm in that state immediately after seating.

So true, I have a booty and wooden seats are murder.

Thank you, when I was signing up it flowed from my finger tips.

As do the spiders from your butthole, I imagine.

I don't particularly WANT to imagine it, but here we are 🤷

Oh, be not afraid. They don’t come from my butthole. When I summon them, they come from the butts of others.

[-] VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf 5 points 1 year ago

Being in the category "others" myself, that would make me significantly MORE afraid, if anything 😂

Ah, perhaps the story doesn’t translate well if you haven’t read the Klingon children’s stories. 🤔

Wish I could say the same. It’s been so hot here in Texas, you wanna sit around to be in the a/c.

Currently on week 4 of 100+ temps, and no relief in sight. They keep saying 50% chance on rain and 2 days later it’s no where to be seen forecasted. It’s so dry the grass crunches under your feet like you’re walking on sand spilled on pavement.

It’s been 90°+ here, so this is sort of a nice change. Though this hurricane Hillary.

[-] Efwis@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah if you aren’t used to hurricanes it can be difficult. I learned that after I move to Texas and got hit with my first one. I grew up in the Midwest o I was used to tornadoes, but tropical storms and hurricanes were completely new to me.

Problem we’re running into here is it’s so hot and dry we are starting to see fires caused by spontaneous combustion here.
