It's not the numbers but the content, if they are good natured and have knowledge or entertainment to give the numbers will follow BUT people will also watch a dumpster fire. People with high numbers but lack the rest are not influencers. IMHO, People that go around saying they are "influencers" usually are not and are just bullies trying to throw around weight they don't have to get free stuff or cause harm.

Sounds like a time share. You would own a percentage of the apartment with a bunch of other people, You would have to book the time you wanted to use the apartment and you would be limited to the number of weeks you could book as the other people would be there when your not. Also lots and lots of rules!

I know someone who is in engineering at one of the big Auto makers, we where discussing this issue and the person told me that even if you remove the SIM (disable cellular internet) The dealer we still upload all the data from the “black box” to the auto maker when they connect to OBD / CAN diagnostic port in your car during service. The manufacturer’s service software just does that now the tech does not even have to initiate it. Also some dealers can automatically connect using RF to your car as soon as you enter their lot, This can be by Bluetooth, WiFi, and/or the CAN bus via the keyless entry module or TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor). There was an issue a several years ago with hackers gaining access to Jeeps while on the road via RF.

Why would one want to heat the poop?

DuckDuckGo translates this as “Fecal Heating Indicator Light”

Guess it is a shit post

Microsoft’s Bing API services (the source of DuckDuckGo’s search data) went down at approx 3am ET and has not yet returned to service. Bing, DuckDuckGo, CoPilot, ChatGPT and more are unable to use the Bing services so in turn are also not working or not working fully.

Family Dollar moved into these neighborhoods undercut the local stores forcing them out of business, so now these folks will have nothing. Fuck Family Dollar!

If Haier is claiming that the integration is causing them financial harm it means that their app is collecting your private data and they are selling it.

Here’s the TLDR version:

  • Most users (at least in my observation, in the instances and communities i’m on) on Lemmy are privacy minded, open source fans, linux enthusiasts , etc.

  • Google is evil and will suck up any data they can find on you and sell it to anyone that will give them a buck. Lemmy users don’t like that. (me either)

  • Google also makes a lot of money selling ads that are crafted for your likes based on the data they steal from you. Lemmy users also don’t like that (me either).

  • Ad blockers will hamper some (not much) of google’s ad revenue so they don’t like them. many users use Ad Blockers ( I use an ad blocking DNS server)

  • Recently Google announced that their Chrome browser would not allow ad-blockers because it’s changing the functionality that ad-blockers use (Google sucks, don’t use Google stuff)

So that is why it’s showing up an Lemmy a lot right now.

Using the web UI on lemmy.ml (BE:0.18.0) from firefox browser for iPad (v114.2) iPadOS v16.5.

When I try to create a post with images using the image icon in the Body section of the create post dialog, the UI prompts to select the image but the image URL is not inserted and the [Preview] does not show the image. After attempting to insert the image several times I will get an error in the bottom right that looks like JSON data with “rate exceeded” in it. I’m assuming this is because the instance server is telling me I tried to upload to much to fast, which would lead me to think that the URLs are getting created on the backend but not being brought to the UI. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any workarounds?
