Consumer software running on a consumer OS should not be grabbing all available RAM just because. Doing so will cause other applications to be moved to swap and have to be loaded back into RAM when the user goes to use them. In a server environment doing something like running a SQL server it would make more sense to grab all available RAM and start aggressively caching frequently accessed data in RAM to present it sooner with the assumption that the server's primary role is to perform SQL operations as quickly as possible.

Specifically with Photoshop what would be the benefit of it be aggressively reserving RAM beyond what is needed to function?

This is only remotely true if you have a box dedicated to doing one single thing and nothing else. That is almost certainly not the case for the vast majority of Photoshop users

Agreed on it being old school reddit! There are some UI wrappers that make it look and feel like old school reddit that I use and love you might enjoy. The wrapper is called mlmym and is open source. There are a few hosts you can use, I use this one: https://o.opnxng.com

A direct link for your lemmy instance would be https://o.opnxng.com/lemmy.world

Speaking from experience depression has the power to render everything you used to find passion and joy in utterly unenjoyable. It sucks, and you get bored, and then you feel bad that you are bored and not doing the things you are supposed to enjoy. Have some empathy for those of us struggling :)

I think co-pilot works better because it has the context of the whole project for reference when suggesting auto completion. I've gotten a lot of unusable junk from it too though

I was dealing with some pretty intense nihilism after my beloved dog passed away. I had thoughts like "Why put effort into anything when in 100/1000/10000 years everything I love and care about will be dead, gone, and forgotten?" It's a terrible philosophy to have and live with, incredibly depressing. I was able to escape mine through meditation with some chemical assistance. Realized that just because things don't last forever doesn't mean they don't have meaning. The fact that we're alive and conscious, experiencing things everyday, means our lives have value. The cosmic odds of us existing here and now are staggering, we're so lucky to be alive! So, to me the value is in the experiences, in the day to day.

From what I understand if you pay to remove ads the Google Ads library is never intialized, which was the only thing collecting data

11 years here. I was very aware the quality of content there had gone down the drain before the API stuff, so when that happened and Lemmy presented itself as a good alternative I left for good!

As something of a prudent buyer and someone who never preorders anything, I too will be buying premium day one regardless of the state of the app. I can pretty easily defend this decision too; we've had a very long time to get to know the developer. He has proven time and time again that he creates a very high quality and high performance application while respecting and treating his users well. I got way more than my money's worth out of Sync for Reddit and will gladly throw some more money at such a great developer. Not to mention we're not talking massive amounts of money here... haha
