I don't understand how anyone thinks immigrants steal jobs. You can't just show up to a workplace and collect a paycheque, you have to get hired first.

Employers are giving jobs to immigrants. And they know it because they are the ones getting the visas.

I just run Docker and my router maps ports to it. Container isolation and a basic firewall is more than enough for me.

Like are we talking what's good enough security for hosting an anime waifu tier list blog or good enough security for a billion dollar corporation?

True, the Roman Empire fell and the United States could fall too. Humanity didn't end though, it went through periods of enlightenment and darkness and kept marching forward.

I'm not saying the end of humanity is impossible, just that at many points in history it seemed like society was on the brink of total annihilation but yet here we still are.

That would require that crowd to have a basic understanding of logic and reality, which they don't. The GOP can literally do no wrong in their eyes because they will have some conspiracy to blame the consequences on instead.

Yeah, and due to the falling replacement rate the world population itself is starting to level off and may even start to decline. That's why conservative political parties are all doing everything they can to force people into having children, because large corporations can only exist with a large and ever growing customer base.

It's actually worse than than because winning the election has been a big windfall for Elmo to the tune of $70 billion: https://www.cnbc.com/2024/11/11/elon-musk-is-70-billion-richer-since-trump-victory-due-to-tesla-surge.html

It's more like he got a 34,900% return on investment. If you include the $44 billion he "spent" on Twitter that brings the ROI down to a still impressive 58%, outperforming pretty much any market or fund.

They really are good businessmen, but the foxes are now in control of the hen house. Good luck everyone else!

GOP is the party of rules for thee not for me. The leadership are all disgustingly wealthy so they can easily fly their mistresses to another country for abortions, drug fueled sex parties, etc...

I have a sneaking suspicion that when Elon got involved in the Ukraine war via Starlink, Putin reminded him that he might mysteriously fall off a balcony or catch a sudden case of polonium and Elon has become a lapdog for him ever since.

I personally don't think it's so likely that Nintendo would write and maintain a Windows emulator just for their museum if an open-source project exists that they could legally use for free under that project's license terms. Only someone with insider knowledge would be able to say for sure though.
