Are there other Wikipedia pages that claim things to be logical fallacies that could be used to see what the burden of proof is for this claim?

I'm not sure, but I found something interesting:

One of Wikipedia's examples of an affirmative conclusion from a negative premise (a formal syllogistic fallacy) is as follows: We don't read that trash. People who read that trash don't appreciate real literature. Therefore, we appreciate real literature.

The "Nothing to hide" argument can be written in a similar way: "I have nothing to hide. People who have something to hide are concerned about surveillance. Therefor, I should not be concerned about surveillance."

I've been waiting for a post like this. Every single time I have tried Windows 11 I have fallen in love with the UI and UX. Sure, it can be buggy at times, but that's true with anything. It has always pained me a little bit every time I have to replace it with Linux. KDE Plasma 6 is the closest I've been able to find to Windows 11. Microsoft in my opinion did a really sleek and nice job making Windows 11 pretty, especially compared to Windows 10.

The fake progress bar isn't even 99% full, which is funny. Even funner: 4852.3 MB out of 5000 MB is only 97%

it’s the best out there, but the bar is pretty low.

For most open source health apps, I found that this is very true. Almost every app here is Android-exclusive (I put no restrictions on which OS it couldn't be on, I only required it be on Android) meaning it doesn't get wide adoption. Lots of them are outdated, buggy, abandoned, low quality, etc. I truly wish I could see (or spark) a movement in the open source community to start making health apps, because health data is the most sensitive and most exploited data there is. This post is a sort of doubles as a sad "this is the best we have, and it isn't even that great most of the time"

This is a nice list of banking apps compatible with GrapheneOS. Besides those, you can weaken security permissions on the app and it should work fine.

There is a house that put a Ring camera on their fence... facing nothing but the public sidewalk and the properties of other people. Thankfully, they live on a common path for schoolers to walk home, who happily harass them by ringing it 100 times a day.

Hi! I agree that it is getting cluttered with emojis. I plan to revamp this today to clear it up a bit. Thanks for your feedback!

Edit: Decluttered in version 5.2024.09.15.1

I will say this: I have used iOS my entire life up until now. Before I used GrapheneOS I made sure to make a list of every app I would be using (although my list did change after trying, which is ok). I also learned as much as I could about the Android and GrapheneOS ecosystem as I could before switching, since there are a few quirks. I was lucky to be able to try out a few cheap Android devices to familiarize myself.

I'm not saying any of this is required, you really will see that it's just an OS and the usability is pretty much the same, but I did my preparation for about a year and was on my feet in a few days (keep in mind I am a niche user). For a normal iOS user who has never used Android, I'm certain they'll be able to use it just fine as long as they have some basic privacy knowledge.

Part of why I made this post is to ease the worries of any iOS users who are hesitant. It really is a smooth transition, but it can be hard if you make it hard. I am a tinkerer and power user with a higher threat model, so of course I had lots more bumps than an average user. Try it out and see what you think!

P.S. If you do ever decide to switch, DM me if you want some help :)

It shouldn't take up too much space. My personal password file is under 2 KB, so for you it may be 1 MB at most.

This spreadsheet is a very helpful comparison of the different messaging apps. I've been using SimpleX for quite some time now, and the only issue I have is some lag on the iOS client.

While Lemmy is not a dedicated service for privacy protection, it has certain features that respect user privacy more than mainstream social media platforms.
