I get that it was delivered with bugs and server issues. I get that it wasn't what was promised to the players. But being toxic to the devs? Fucking get a grip. You don't like it? Get a refund. And probably don't preorder in the future.

What is it and why?

[-] CoachDom@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 year ago

I had a similar issue and two things helped.

  1. I once heard that people like to talk more than listen (which was true for me). In addition, a great conversationalist is a person that ask and listens - not the loud, funny outspoken one. People will have a laugh and will listen to you for a little while, but will eventually get bored because they didn't have an opportunity to participate themselves. So what I started doing now is asking a lot of questions, even if I'm not 100% genuinely interested in the answer, but eventually the other person will say something that will bring us closer together and will give us something to talk about. The second rule of this game, is to try as hard as possible not to say anything unless asked. This is the hard part :D But once you catch yourselves giving opinions/story telling unprompted - stop - back to asking questions.

You wouldn't believe how much it changed my life. I used to be extremely nervous about going out 1v1 even with my close friends, out of fear of "What are we going to talk about?""What if there is going to be an awkward silence" etc. Now I thrive and I love hearing from people, what's new in their lives and so on. And I noticed people like to talk to me a lot more too!

  1. Realise that "opinions are like assholes - everyone has got one" - and this works in two ways. Respect that your opinion is not definite and final - listen and maybe somebody will say something that will make you revaluate your "truths". Learn. That's the only way to grow. Also, don't give opinion unless asked - sometimes people just need to vent. Not always you need to be there to fix things or correct them.

Just be respectful, wait for your time when called upon and enjoy the conversation. You know your opinions - by saying them out loud you just repeat what you already know. It's time to find out what other people are thinking :)

100% agree - but when did she say that?

[-] CoachDom@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 year ago

Are you trying to imply I'm a nazi apologist for simply refusing to punish anyone for the crime they did not commit?

What if you grandfather was a rapist - would you find it necessary for yourself to go around, admit that your grandfather was a rapist, apologies for this and suffer consequences?

Anyone who worked for or supported Nazis should suffer the consequences. She did not.

Terraria is great! Also kudos to Re-Logic for supporting the industry!

Wow that's great! I don't see myself needing something like this, but it's a cool tech nonetheless! Great job!

Contributing to OpenBoard (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Hi there,

I wanted to improve my native language dictionary (there is a lot of words missing) in OpenBoard app and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with it?

This is how it's described on their Github page, but I never used github so I'm not even sure where to start.

Dictionary creation

To create or update a dictionary for your language, you can use this tool. You will need a wordlist, as described here. The output .dict file must be put in res/raw, and its wordlist in dictionaries.

For your dictionary to be merged into OpenBoard, you must provide the wordlist you used, as well as its license if any.

Also, is this project still supported? It seems to be the best FOSS keyboard for me, but it seems the last update was a year ago.

Thanks

If somebody is forced (!) to dress in a specific way, that's wrong. But if somebody chooses (!) to wear them for religious reasons, who am I to judge that?

My point is, there is nothing inherently wrong with burkinis - the context in which some individuals are wearing them might be wrong.

I 100% agree with you, that nobody should be forced to wear something that they don't want to.

So what's up with this novel? Can't find anything obvious about it - only that it's mighty popular among conservatives (which is usually a red flag)

VPN Enabled Router (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Hi all,

I want to setup a router in my network that would cover my whole household under VPN. I bought a DSL-AC88U but I think it might be too outdated for this purpose (I've seen a lot of posts online with people having trouble setting it up after 2021) so I think I will be returning it.

I manged to get it for $70 on an auction, and that's a rough ballpark of my budget on it atm. Maybe stretching it to $100 (I don't mind buying used).

Is there a router you could recommend? Thanks

MacOS Text Glitch (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Hi all,

I'm trying to make aware people of the recent Google movements to close gate the internet to their services and suggest to folks to move to Firefox.

One of my colleagues encouters this problem though:

and it doesn't happen in Chrome. Any ideas? It seems that it mostly happens when the font used on a page is sans-serif

Synology Photos Slow (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

I recently acquired a second hand DS216j with 6TB (SHR1 so only 3TB is usable). I moved all my Google Photos images and videos onto it, but now when I access it through QuickConnect it loads them really slow, the videos are constantly buffering and when they load they have a messed up framerate (really jittery). I have a 500 fibre connection and the station is connected to the router through an ethernet cable. Any idea how I could possibly fix this? Thanks

Alternative to Google Photos (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

So I'm looking to disconnect myself from Google and their tracking (as much as possible) and I was thinking about installing GrapheneOS on my Pixel phone. I mostly use my phone for Lemmy, Signal, NewPipe and taking photos. The last one is my biggest bother at the moment. The Google Photos environment is so convenient - I take a photo, it uploads it to my Google Photos collection, and after a while, it deletes it from my phone to clear space, keeping only the cloud backup. Is there a functionality like this disconnected from Google that I would be able to implement on my GrapheneOS phone? I'm looking to invest in the Proton environment (mainly Mail and Drive) so I could use that for storage. Cheers
