If a game gets lost in the steam store and no one ever plays it, was it ever a game at all?

[-] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 21 points 2 months ago

Yeah. GrayJay has been my go to for almost a year now. There's been some bugs, but they've gotten most of it worked out. It isn't perfect, but it's definitely worth using.

Battery life. Forced ecosystem. Lack of options. Apple watches suck. I love my s pen. I can watch YouTube for free with no ads. The refusal to integrate the messaging system compatibility. How they refused to move to usb-c until they were literally forced to by Europe. Spearheading the removal of audio Jack's and micro USB slots.

I dislike Apple as a company. I'm still miffed that Bill Gates bailed Apple out and saved them from bankruptcy in the 1990's. All he asked was that they would be more charitable if they got back on their feet. They obviously did that, but then proceeded to continue being one of the least charitable companies in the fortune 100.

Then there was the crap with forcing an update to underclock their iPhones in order to hide hardware issues causing reboots from their still under warranty batteries failing to provide enough voltage to supply the apu. Or the time when they told customers they were holding their phones wrong when they designed the antennas in a way that would kill their reception if part of your hand was on the side of the phone.

Buying a steam deck significantly increased by gaming time. The ability to immediately suspend and resume my gameplay, and not have to go over to my desktop helped a lot. I've played more this past year than I have in the last 3 years combined.

Have there ever been any big moves or changes in the world without violence involved?

General Tso never even tried his sauce.

I know it's "big evil corporate overlord", but Gmail is pretty damned good at it, really.

If I get spam from a company I recognize I gave my email to, I'll go in it and click the unsubscribe button and do it that way. Anyone else and I just mark it as spam and Gmail does a pretty good job of sending swaths of junk emails into the spam folder. I don't get much that slips through. Very occasionally I'll sign up for something I'm supposed to get an email for but don't, and I'll find it in the spam folder. If I think I'll want more emails from that company, I move it to my regular folder.

My samsung n20 ultra has the 85% charge option built in and I've always used it to keep my battery good. Back when it was easier to use custom roms in the 2010-2014 Era there was a lost of them that had custom "stop charging options" like it.

I also have fast/ultra fast charging disabled. If you don't need to quickly charge your phone, it's something else you should avoid.

For steam deck owners it gets a bit more complicated. SD has pass through charging, so once the battery is fully charged and also while it is plugged in, you aren't powering it through the battery like cell phones and most laptops do. It's just running off the USB c power, so if you usually play while plugged in, you aren't cycling the battery, but you are having to allow it to fully charge.

It's not even in a garden.

I've been repairing crap like this for decades. I haven't done the steam deck battery yet but already know an easy enough way to get it done.

Use a plastic playing card, and you may want to cut one in half so it isn't as wide. Get a shallow bowl of 90 or higher iso alcohol to dip a bit of plastic playing card into.

Dip card, hold deck upside down so no access alcohol goes down into the lcd screen (avoids slight chance of issues) and start wedging the card under the battery to eat and peel away the adhesive. Just keep dipping and pushing the card under.

Actually, even if you took half for the lawyers (they'd get less) and assumed both buyers and sellers would get money back, 5.3billion would still be like $5,000 for each buyer and each seller.

Not "get rich" money, but a hell of a lot more than three bucks.

Five years from now it'll be settled and Microsoft will pay ten billion.
