Either the people in !steamdeck@lemmy.world are pretty horny or its an artifact of the dimensionality reduction and means nothing.
Edit: Actually it could also be that it just didn't collect enough data on that community and the most recent person was also active in nsfw communities. I was only able to get back 14ish days in the data for lemmy.world. They produce way to many comments and I got kicked out early.
Well I used dimensionality reduction to make it 2D so the axes are how the algorithm chose to compress it.
The original data had each data point as a community and the features as a frequency of a user posting in that community.
I guess we are going to be in for more SEO spam than usual if this document is accurate. But I think its good that we are finally going to get a better understanding how Google manipulates people with the algorithm.

Semi related to this I think a good way to avoid back doors in open source software is to have as few dependencies as possible. So I appreciate that this is a thing.
If kagi is just an aggregate of other search engines why not just use a searx instance instead? Its open source and customizable.

So yes it was a lemmy.world decision. The question is whether or not this admin was a lone actor.

After many hours of talks, it became clear that our overall goal could be achieved outside of Lemmy/ActivityPub.
Right now, we feel that Lemmy and ActivityPub have downsides that are limiting us from achieving that goal.
I have two questions.
What are your long-term goals for your platform?
What are the downsides to Lemmy/ActivityPub stopping you from reaching those goals?
Also to answer the main question I'd like for it to stay but at the same time, the last time I checked Beehaw had around 700-ish Monthly active users. That means there probably wouldn't be that much of an impact on the general discourse of Lemmy more broadly.
That seems like enough to sustain a pretty big community on a private server even if about half of you left. So if you guys do decide to leave I wish you the best.
That sucks. So much research is being twisted by humanity's greed. I hope that whatever comes after the internet becomes useless is better.
