Two of my sisters are doing that, and they're lovely kids and will be surrounded by people who love them and will help them grow. So I think that's absolutely fine.

Don’t do that.

Coming from non-linux, it's not usually a problem. But now I know better :)

fstab is just a config file so the computer knows what drives and storage volumes its supposed to have when it boots.

You can add and remove drives without ever editing fstab. Plugging something in should give you the option to mount it in your file explorer, and in the same place you should be able to “eject” it before disconnecting the actual cable.

I know that, but this particular drive was meant to be permanently mounted and accessible, which is why I added it to fstab. I am removing it because it's damaged and i have to replace it with something which isn't to act as a permanent drive for the server.

Thank you for your help :)

Yanked out the cable like a medieval surgeon ;) Anyway, since I removed it from fstab I figured it was unmounted.

Yes, and like feddit.dk is Danish-speaking. These language-specific instances make sense, and ideally we'd have a different instance for international communities like a europe-community. But, you know, beggars can't be choosers and so it seems like we need to make a suboptimal choice :)

feddit.eu seems to be a one-person abandoned instance. To me, feddit.org seems like a fine place.

There's also !europe@jlai.lu - but it seems to be exclusively francophone.

While that sounds frustrating, I also could not get a bank account in the UK when I studied there, and my wife had to go to maybe 10 different banks in France to find one which would open an account for a foreigner when she lived there for a while.

We spent close to a year preparing to live in the UK as students for 8 months, emailing universities and city councils and so on. Moving to a new country is full of that sort of thing in general.

At least Israel is part of the European Broadcasting Union, who're doing the show, for historical reasons. Australia makes no sense.

I think it's a power-thing. Some Americans follow the 'customer is always right' thinking and expect staff to be servile. But my experience in Europe is that when you interact with a waiter or a shop assistant you're interacting with an equal who happens to be serving you at that moment, and who also expects a certain something from you.

I still remember a waiter who was very disappointed in me because I didn't know which wine I wanted to have with my fish 😂 Sorry, Danes don't know much about wine. Anyway, the only time I've encountered rude staff was in Belgium and only once or twice - and probably just because we seemed impatient.

Hehe, I've been to Paris twice, and to Bordeaux, Montpellier, Hauts de France, and surrounding countryside as well. This year we'll drive to Alsace-Lorraine and visit the Vosges. I've liked every visit 🙂

I mean, some people are rude, that's normal. But overall we've been treated really well no matter where we've been.

I was in Bordeaux with my family for the world cup in 2018, it was a great experience even with thousands of people and us with two toddlers.

Sorry, this comes of as a love letter to France 😂 I promise, I also love visiting other parts of Europe!

Thanks - that's what I though too, but it seems to simply be this issue, at least so far. Maybe EmuDeck can't determine the controller order when booting up, and so it needs to be manually set for each session?

Either way, it works - at least for now!

Sure. I mean, I am a adult. I never thought adults had things figured out when I was a kid either, seemed pretty obvious they were just trying their best with what they had to work with.

This week I played Neanderthal by Eklund. It'd been a while since I played it, so we played it a bit wrong. But now I've got the rules down for next time!
