I agree it's too much, but on the other hand the potential user base for the app is much lower than previously with Reddit. So I can understand it, even if I don't like it.

The developer, TalkLittle, has made another app but it's for Tildes instead of Lemmy or Kbin. It's invite -only so quite low population even compared to Fediverse instances. Plus iirc it's only text. No images, no video, etc

One of the legal advice subs -- I can't remember which -- was going forward requiring post approval from mods because they value community safety. But as they are unpaid volunteers they estimate it could take up to 14 days for post approval.
