There are various reasons people may treat you as if you're younger. I would bet the primary reason is no matter how much you think you've grown up, those changes have to be seen outwardly for a while before people that knew you as a kid will accept it. It took until 24 or 25 before I felt people had stopped treating me with kid hands. Keep in mind as well that as people get older, younger people start blending together a bit and a 20 year old does not seem as mature from a 30-40's perspective. It's similar to how younger people often have a hard time telling apart old people's ages and they all seem "old". The final point I'd make is that swearing isn't something all adults do and is not related to maturity. It can be a sign of familiarity between certain people though. Swearing around family members is either something that comes with time or never, really depends on your parents/relatives.

Trying to push these issues in an "I'm a big boy now!" manner will generally backfire and get you treated young for longer, because it's a very childish thing to do. I am not all-knowing so I don't like giving absolute advice, but personally I think the best thing you can do is not worry so much about it and continue acting in a responsible manner. If you show yourself to be mature, others will realise and treat you as such. If they don't then either you're not as mature as you think or you should find someone who you can have a more level conversation with. It's not so bad being young, anyway, "the grass is always greener" and you will miss it when people always look at you like an adult!

Occasionally good games get nominated for the correct categories (Terraria for Labor of Love) but it's very rare. I haven't even played any 2024 games but wanted the badge so I just nominated some off brand games that will never win.

This really depends on the type of person you are. I find with the time pressure each in-game day that every time I launch it I get caught up in a mess of wiki pages and spreadsheets figuring out the ideal crops to plant and when, what gifts people like and when to gift them, etcetera etcetera. It became stressful and I stopped playing it after finishing most of the main objectives.

I'm not sure I agree with "tolerating" keyboard. I quite like it over a joystick! The benefit in complex games (like RTS, as you mention) is obvious, but even in most 3D games I prefer the instant reaction and definite axis of WASD over the 360° analog inputs of a joystick. There are not many times I would rather move at 2° forwards-right at a ramping X% speed instead of simply moving forwards at 100% instantly. As for racing or other games that require precise analog inputs, I would generally prefer something that is bigger than my thumb i.e a racing wheel.

That isn't to say I completely disagree, though! The ergonomics are a clear disadvantage. Most keyboards are not ergonomic for typing, let alone gaming. It would be fantastic to see more gaming-specialised keypad devices other than that one Razor one and whatever Chinese Amazon specials are kicking around. But the keypad format is not something I would want to forego as any FPS I play for more than 20 hours I usually have the entire left half of the keyboard bound to something for quick access.

I upvoted you because this is a great discussion point. :)

It annoys me more that some apps have no light mode now. It's not a "one is better" problem, both have their use!

Good! I was just indignant over this the other day, especially as it worked flawlessly once I changed user agent.

Such an iconic brand and it sounds like it'll be lots of trouble for growers a long while after they shut down. Sad to see it go.

Unfortunately the subscription appears to be for their benchmarking tool only, not for website access.

Eh, best to not get into a pissing contest when you don't have to. We need instance blocking to optionally affect comments as well as posts and then instances can stick to only defederating the worst of the worst (illegal, spam, or troll instances).

And you could make a killing on selling instant travel.

I use Musicbee and have no idea what I'll do if I ever switch OS.

Many would probably find it bloated or ugly, but I have been using it for years and love all the features. Off the top of my head: split tags (multiple artists), powerful auto playlists, dedicated audiobooks and inbox sections, automatic file organisation, support for all tag fields plus many custom ones, playcounts and played dates, custom keybinds, file re-encoder, audio gain calculation and support, scrobbling... the point is, I actually use all this quite frequently and I'm kinda stuck with it now lol.

There are definitely things I wish it did better, and I know that a lot of this could be accomplished with multiple programs. But having it all in one package is massively helpful for speed/efficiency. I tried some Linux music players recently and I struggle to see how I'd move my workflow across; There would definitely be compromises.

Plus in general people would rather use png because it can be viewed on everything and some websites and services outright refuse to support webp so why not use png or jpg-xl?

Because PNG files are lossless and way higher quality than you need for sharing a meme over Discord. Using the extra 3MB isn't worth it unless you can't avoid it. And Jpeg XL is not supported by any browser right now and Chromium removed support entirely. Thus it's most likely dead in the water, sadly. Your only other option for most things is regular old jpeg, which has all the old problems like lacking transparency.
