Close to my home, there is a crossing without traffic lights next to the bus stop I get off at. I can't count the number of times a car, or even more frequently a motorbike, coming from the right (which means I am in the middle of the crossing) sped up in order to be able to go through in front of me. And of course, most of the time they end up having to hard break in order to not run me over, and they still manage to complain (and most of the time while honking) that I am crossing at a crossing.

You clearly do not know how things work in France. We have tons of things fiscally in place that make it so that in practice, you have to earn much more than that to truly pay taxes.

I don't have time currenty to enumerate all of that, but I'll come back to you later if I don't forget.

But then it's a shame that the ones that have to suffer the most from this are the pedestrians (and animals, my dog is petrified every time that a motorbike passes by). We don't have an easy solution for this, but fighting fire with fire is definitely not the way to go.

You can force a video to appear in Lemmy by copying the original peertube URL of the video into lemmy's search. It will take 2-3 seconds to import it and show up in the search results.

Laziness ? Ease of bypassing rules ? (slight /s)

Honestly, between the very extensive metro system that pretty much goes everywhere in Paris, complementary bus lines and docked (e-)bikes that are pretty much everywhere in the city, Paris has a very good offer for mobility. Sure, things can always be improved, but on that aspect, I don't think we can really blame the city.

Shared bikes still work that way in Paris too.

Edit: You can even choose between e-bikes and regular bikes.

Yes, that is the best way. Liberapay is also great as it doesn't take any commission itself (although if you actually use liberapay frequently, it would be a good idea to also donate to them!).

I'm wondering, if you're a 16-year-old French person, can you vote in Belgium if you live there ? I guess you can, but I find that interesting.

One way to deal with this issue in Mastodon is to follow hashtags instead. Personally, it is also not for me, but it is still better than following individuals.

Je trouve que c'est une super initiative, et j'espère qu'on commencera à voir la même chose avec d'autres médias, tel que France Télévision.

It would still be better to have multiple "large" servers, instead of only one or two, which is currently the case. I really don't think that it is a good thing to have a big difference between the biggest and the next biggest servers, as it effectively centralizes the content around the biggest instance.

I however agree that it doesn't make sense to have tons of tiny instances.
