oh okay it works for you, I guess the developer claiming it will not work as well on Chrome as on Firefox was complete BS 🤡

most logical take. people seem to forget that modern apps are tied into all kinds of features that regular users expect to just work. if you want a bare OS with minimalist apps, install lineage or Graphene and only use apps from F-Droid.

container tabs don't just isolate but also give you the option to have multiple profiles without having to log in + out of websites. if you don't need that feature, then probably.

There's no point for democracy when ignorance is celebrated

NOFX wrote about the rise of ignorance in America and the song "The Idiots Are Taking Over" is more appropriate now than ever before.

full lyrics below. link to song for anyone not familiar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sNWDfryyMk

It's not the right time to be sober
Now the idiots have taken over
Spreading like a social cancer, is there an answer?
Mensa membership conceding
Tell me why and how are all the stupid people breeding
Watson, it's really elementary
The industrial revolution
Has flipped the *removed* on evolution
The benevolent and wise are being thwarted, ostracized, what a bummer
The world keeps getting dumber
Insensitivity is standard and faith is being fancied over reason
Darwin's rolling over in his coffin
The fittest are surviving much less often
Now everything seems to be reversing, and it's worsening
Someone flopped a steamer in the gene pool
Now angry mob mentality's no longer the exception, it's the rule
And I'm starting to feel a lot like Charlton Heston
Stranded on a primate planet
Apes and orangutans that ran it to the ground
With generals and the armies that obeyed them
Followers following fables
Philosophies that enable them to rule without regard
There's no point for democracy when ignorance is celebrated
Political scientists get the same one vote as some Arkansas inbred
Majority rule, don't work in mental institutions
Sometimes the smallest softest voice carries the grand biggest solutions
What are we left with?
A nation of god-fearing pregnant nationalists
Who feel it's their duty to populate the homeland
Pass on traditions
How to get ahead religions
And prosperity via simpleton culture
The idiots are taking over

I use the shit out of Firefox PWA. I just wish Mozilla would get off their asses and make it work out of the box vs having to install a third party app.

kinda agree with you.

Firefox is not doing well, and greedy CEO's are not helping the cause. I wish they'd take a playbook from Nintendo's leadership, show they really back the product, and take a pay cut to help the cause.

I can't imaging the CEO being significantly impacted if they had to go from $6,700,000 per year to $3,350,000 and could single-handedly save at least 10 engineers at $300,000+ each to continue to work on core features and guarantee long-term success.

Nintendo's Satoru Iwata on layoffs:

If we reduce the number of employees for better short-term financial results, employee morale will decrease, and I sincerely doubt employees who fear that they may be laid off will be able to develop software titles that could impress people around the world

Mac address randomization has been enabled by default since Android 10. I would assume iPhone does something similar.

It gave you a gigabyte of email storage which at the time was huge.

You're right, but for those who may not know the details or the impact at the time, Google was offering 500x more storage - at the free tier - than some of the competition - hotmail - who were charging people for just 10 MB of storage. This forced hotmail to increase its free tier to 250 MB and 2 GB for customers paying $20 USD/year.

For those who may not know, bcachefs (bcachefs.org) was written by the same developer as bcache (wikipedia.org) - TIL! I was always confused when reading headlines about bcachefs but never looked into why someone might give their filesystem such a conflicting name. Now it makes sense. I've used bcache briefly and it worked really well for my use case. Anyone using bcachefs that can speak to their own experience? How does it compare to btrfs?
