I recommend downloading it from f-droid if you want full functionality (like self-hosted sync) for free -- the one in the play store is monetized (however I do recommend donating to the dev if you don't want to pay the subscription fee).

Scary, but neat.

Or, better yet, one should simply not use email for secure communications.

Do you trust Proton?

For starters, such a question is coming at it from the wrong perspective. One should have trust in the software -- if such sowtware is, indeed, trustworthy -- and not in the entity that created it. If one seeks privacy, then they should be of the mindset that every entity is malevolent.

I presume that anywhere where interest-free loans are offered, they are offered by that country's government. Canada, for example, as of April 1st 2023, offers federal student loans interest-free. Depending on the province, some may not have interest on provincial loans, as well.

This one actually isn't so bad. If a person opts out of their edit history being shown, at least this would be a sort of red flag for the reader that should trigger skepticism in the content's trustworthiness. That being said, it would still be inferior to having a mandatory edit history.

This is indeed an obstacle in practicality. You are absolutely right in that any channel under control by the admin could be used as a means to orchestrate a MITM attack and replace my public key with theirs. The only way for this to work is for me to personally provide my public key in a separate, and secure channel like Matrix.

I would like to emphasize that this is all just an experiment for my own interest. I would certainly not recommend what I am doing to anyone else.

I would argue, with a rather high degree of confidence, that this would never occur. If it did, it would certainly indicate a complete degredation in the core functions of the government, as well as the trust that the public has in its operation -- I suspect that a revolution would be imminent. Furthermore, due its unstable nature, I would wager that it would be rather fleeting.

I personally think that the simplest solution would be to put the STEP files (don't share STLs, as converting to them is lossy) in a git repo (You could, of course, also format the repo with pictures, a descriptive README, etc.). You would then have a myriad of ways to host that repo i.e. Gitea/Forgejo, Gtihub, Gitlab, etc.

As a side note, it is also very helpful if you include the CAD project files. For example, you could add a FreeCAD project file to the same repo; however, if you do share the project files, do note that it's also very helpful to include the CAD software's version information for future compatibilty reasons.

You mean like how most places don't let you vote before you turn 18 because it is accepted that children have not developed the cognitive ability to make sound decisions in regards to electing officials?

This is a strawman argument. OP was talking about an age limit for elected officials, whereas you are now talking about age restrictions on the voters. Yes, we are both talking about cognitive decline in decision making; however there is a substantial difference between putting an age limit on those who can be in power vs. putting an age limit on those who can decide who is in power.

occ files:scan --all (or something like that)

I have already done this, as was mentioned in the post.
