I see a lot of posts like this and it's always people overthinking something they haven't tried to do yet.

So my advice is to just do it.

You may lose everything at some point in the future, Satan knows I have a few times, but because you've actually done it, you can do it again.

Now, because you're just thinking about doing it, it seems like a massive deal because you've not gone out and done it yet.

As for recommendations, I use a Proxmox VM with Debian and Docker. My Proxmox does backups, but my Docker compose is also a text document on my PC so I can recreate it all from scratch from that. I also have an idea what I did when I was learning how to do it, and have retained a good bit of that info so I could probably do it without either the backups or the Docker Compose, it would just take longer.

Just do it

To be fair it IS their job to take the piss. It is just that they should be processing it instead of pumping it into rivers and such

I can't remember the steps (they were simple though) but when my Home Assistant raspi SD card died, I bought a 128gb SSD from AliExpress and a usb-sata cable.

I then did something to the pi that meant it can boot from the SSD, and flashed the SSD using Balenetcher or RUFUS or whatever (same program I was using to flash my SD cards basically).

Then it was just a case of plugging in and turning it on.

Runs exactly the same as with an SD card with less dying because SD cards aren't meant for a lot of read/write but SSDs do.

In all seriousness it was only a few weeks ago that I heard about a teacher in Bangladesh that did actually shoot one of his students in the leg. He apparently always brought a loaded gun into class with him in his bag.

I liked the idea that this was King Sausage Fingers' way of saying the headline "Fuck you, Bastard!" to Midget Jug-ears.

It's much easier being a Poor, you just say "Fuck off ya cunt" and get another minimum wage job next week. Cheaper too, you don't have to buy a new insulting tie for every work meeting.

But then, when you get all the assets of anyone who dies in Manchester who doesn't have a Will, money starts to lose all meaning and you just buy ties for the fuck of it.

I really enjoyed this comment chain. Fuck organised religions, and this one in particular.

I've just this year changed jobs after decades in the same job. I wanted to ask in the interview if they have a Unionised shop floor but the company was American owned (in the UK) so I thought it best to just wonder instead of asking.

Now I'm contracted to the Company instead of an Agency and know there is actually a Union and it's the same one I'm a member of, which is nice. So i had a word with the Rep and got them to tell the Union I'm working there.

Then this week I was in my first Union meeting at this company and was a little confused why the manager that interviewed me AND HIS MANAGER were in the meeting. I thought perhaps they were just there talking to the Union to see what they thought on a subject.

Nope, they're members! I thought they were really nice and understanding Managers before but now I know why.

I have my old fat iPod classic in my car now. I found an iPod Jack in the arm rest and went searching through my old tech drawer to dust it off. It's got so many bangers on it, but sometimes it just cuts out halfway through a song, waits for 30 seconds and starts the next one up, always when you're just getting into it

I learned how to make my home "Smart" using a Raspberry Pi and Home Assistant. I also learned how to play the guitar, although that wasn't all Reddit, it was where I discussed it with others learning, and where I got tips on the best places to learn.
