Well, while I don't understand their stubbornness of supporting Google drive, (Google restricts it so much? Ok then just remove it and blame Google. Replace with Dropbox/WebDAV/ftp/whatever) IMHO they're right about the piracy. Years ago I tried to be an app developer for Android and iOS and I personally experienced that iOS users are willing to pay for everything. The in-app purchase to remove ads on iOS was bought by many, while on Google play literally a single person got it. Maybe it can be simply that because iPhones are 5x more expensive than the average Android (in my country there are no carrier locking and no carrier discounts at all), then users are wealthy or they're adult workers, while kids and students get the cheaper Android phones.

I closed both dev accounts years ago and now I'm android user. As an user, I simply cannot imagine paying $5 on Android for a glorified text editor with all the free alternatives that are available. Maybe android users are cost conscious?

This is the top 10 most sold apps in my country:

  1. Game Booster 4x Faster Pro (users tricked by deceptive ads)
  2. e-Connect (an app to manage a specific home security system)
  3. Threema
  4. Obd torque pro
  5. IPTV extreme pro (used by pirates that want to watch soccer)
  6. Peakfinder
  7. Metronet (an app graphically identical to e-connect but with a different icon and name)
  8. Analog Rolex Royal Watch face (with obvious trademark infringement but of course Google doesn't care)
  9. Tasker
  10. Nova launcher prime

Now, this is definitely alarming.

A smartwatch watchface is the #8 most sold app in a country with 30 million android users?????

#2 and #7 have a combined download count of 20k! And are in the top 10?????

Peakfinder is the #6???? How many people in October are trekking so much that they need to know which mountain are watching???

Tasker and nova launcher?? Yes I also bought those two apps but are for power users, the 1% of users.

it's nice and faster than woocommerce, main issue is that almost every extra feature is provided by a plugin that needs a subscription and i hate subscriptions, i prefer to get a permanent license and pay extra for a new version only if and when it's actually updated

Thirty bees is a fork based on an ancient version of prestashop (1.6, released TEN years ago). While it's much better than what prestashop was at the time of the fork, IMHO it's better to go with prestashop 1.9 (now called 9) if you need any extra plug-in, as third party developers abandoned support for 1.6 a long time ago.

I don't think that a swiss ministry is significant at all in this question. While the headline says "Switzerland" as the whole country, it's just the opinion of a single person in the government.

It's completely impossible that he got bribed to say that, or that he has other personal interests, right? It never happened in the history

[-] Moonrise2473@feddit.it 3 points 2 days ago

This is a non-news

It's like saying that my grandma agrees to something a YouTuber said about a tiktoker, China and Brazil are in a different continent

The aggression is one sided, once that side stops and retreats from the invaded lands, there's immediate peace. That's so easy.

Well, they don't appear to use them as propaganda. When Travis T. King crossed the border, they arrested him and not used as propaganda "see? He hated SK and USA so much"

Same for Otto warmbier, instead of "see? After he saw our wonderful country, he wanted to take a piece of propaganda back home to always remember us" he was arrested, tortured and sent back dead.

I do not recall any situation when they used something like this as positive propaganda instead of a public execution

When they did that experiment on YouTube showing how wonderful is life in north Korea (if you're a daughter of the elite), it lasted until it suddenly went like "Winston Smith never existed"

[-] Moonrise2473@feddit.it 0 points 3 days ago

Source for what, the executions? It's the North Korean government itself, since those are public

[-] Moonrise2473@feddit.it 2 points 4 days ago

Don't understand this. If he comes back to the North, he would be tortured&executed with his family. If living in SK is that terrible isn't easier to just unalive themselves?

It can be an easy target if they just take the betas and call them stable

Some local agent poses and pretends to flirt, then once they have proof of something, they plant some incriminating evidence and start torturing. For example in Qatar: https://www.advocate.com/news/qatar-gay-airline-torture-hiv

It would exclusively work for competitive eSports.

Many people play just for fun, don't want to focus on teamwork

Aren't they kicking too many hornets nests at the same time?

And it failed spectacularly.

We only needed a simple form, but we wanted to be fancy, so we used "nextcloud forms".

The docker image automatically updated the install to nextcloud 30, but the forms app requires nextcloud 29 or lower. No warning whatsoever. It's an official app, couldn't they wait that it was ready for NC 30 before launching it? The newsletter boasts "NC hub 9 is the best thing after sliced bread" yet i don't see any difference both in visual or performance compared to NC hub 2

Conclusion: we made our business to rely on nextcloud forms as a signup form, but the only reason we were using it was disabled who knows how many weeks ago.

They made millions thanks to crypto bros buying the Solana phone (rebranded osom with custom ROM), claiming the free shit coins, then sending it to e-waste.

Unfortunately those millions weren't invested in new products but to fund the CEO lifestyle.

I love how the endgame was to trying getting acquired by HP for billions but that failed.

Everyone's (also humane ai pin) trying to get acquired by HP, the ultimate bagholder, expert in overvaluing failed startups

The share is higher than you would expect because they include all apple devices in them because the apple soc is capable of running ai. Of course who's buying a MacBook it's not doing it because "it's an AI PC". Should have included all gaming PCs then...

The report says Lenovo ai PC shipments went up 228% last quarter. Uh... They put on sale their copilot+ devices on the last week of Q2, then of course at the end of Q3 you have such high percentage. They could have said "10000000000000000000000% yoy increase"

No, it's not phishing, it's legit, the header match with google and the link goes to https://accounts.google.com/AccountChooser/signinchooser?continue=https%3A%2F%2Fadmin.google.com%2Fac%2Fac%2Falert%2Fdetails%3FalertId%3D3...

Why not just write the message there instead of letting me login to watch the important notification?????????????????

In the browser, i didn't login in the google account, and I didn't accept the cookies on that site. Using privacybadger that supposedly should block the 3rd party spyware like that

Wow, that's awesome! I was very sad without the clickbait articles. I was staring at Firefox thinking "i wish it had a cluttered start page with clickbait articles and sponsored content like MS Edge" - and then with this new update the devs nailed it! Thanks!

That's really perfect!

(it's a tablet in a smartphone form factor, it doesn't have cellular connectivity)

For reference, android 14 was announced 6 months before the launch of this device.

It's a bit surprising that Google still allows device certification with such ancient, unsupported and vulnerable OS.

All the marketing materials don't say which CPU it's using except "Qualcomm octa core CPU" - that means nothing as the description could apply to the Snapdragon 415, which was a low end slow system on a chip released ten years ago. Maybe it could explain why they're using an ancient version of Android - the soc that they're using it's a leftover found in some warehouse and it's already unsupported by the manufacturer; they're forced to use android 11.

Google artificial "intelligence" suggested to add glue to let cheese stick to the pizza, because a decade ago user fucksmith on reddit said so

I have friends that send me tiktok links via whatsapp and then they ask questions about it like "what do you think, scam or not". I used to open them with cookies rejected in ddg browser but now it pretends to freeze after 4 seconds of play, then it says that i must open it in the app and replaces the "play" button with a fake button that leads to google play.

I assume that there's no way to watch it anymore without an account and without the app, right?
