Idk, LJ doesn't have a boss that takes a portion of the profits he generates. Extraction of surplus labor is the cornerstone of capitalism. But this isn't really the place to get into a deep discussion about regardless. I don't think it's profiteering either to charge an amount that provides you with a living wage. Sync for reddit had orders of magnitude more users than the Lemmy version so of course he'll need to charge more on Lemmy to keep doing it full time.
I truly feel at home
Sync as far I can tell is the only thing so far to bring an openly capitalist approach to lemmy
Sync's pricing is inherently socialist. LJ owns his own labor and is able to decide what is done with it. If you don't want to pay then cool, there are plenty of other options.
Eh. Toxic work culture can drive people away regardless of the pay. Obviously some people suck it up but not everyone. Ultimately the goal is to treat employees well all around. Good pay, benefits, and work culture will keep people happy.
FL studio will always make the most of their money through the desktop version. FL can afford to make a little less money on their mobile app especially considering that it's likely a gateway for a lot of people to purchase the full version. Sync is a bit different in that regard. There's also much less of a market for lemmy readers.
Yeah the $20 one is just to remove ads and is a lifetime purchase. I figured that there would be a "pro" version like sync for reddit but it seems like it's all on the same app now and not separate.
It's just one of those tiny quality of life features. I've been using sync for years and I'm constantly discovering new features haha.
Huh? You can test it though. The app's functionality is totally free. You're just not entitled to an ad free experience if you don't pay.
Long press any of the settings and it'll put it on your clipboard to paste!
They want to optimize engagement so they give some users certain content and other users other content to see what works. Not sure what is that mindblowing about it. It's how basically every website tests new features.
Idk, that's one pretty minor inconvenience imo. I wouldn't be surprised if the links can be corrected by the app anyways since there are some browser extensions/scripts that can do it on desktop. It's not an unsolvable problem.
