That would be great but the reality is that client’s mindsets need to change. I tried to explain to a client that Wordpress is not a good fit for their complex web application and yet they didn’t wanna switch to anything else. People are way too worried about new tech and wanna stick with whatever they know, even if it causes massive problems.

I don’t know, as a millennial I always heard people that I don’t know cassette tapes or vinyls or slide projectors when I was a kid. I was in fact familiar with all of those since this old stuff doesn’t just disappear and was still used around me in some capacity.

As someone else said, feddit.de is dead and has been superseded by feddit.org. The original instance has unfortunately been abandoned by its owner.

Did anyone try this on real hardware yet? Is it made to perform well on the GameCube or does it really only work well in emulators?

Edit: I just tried it out and it works great on a real GameCube.

Seriously 90s Windows design is actually pretty good in my opinion. Does a great job conveying functionality through shadows and highlights.

Short term profit is all they care about until this platform crashes down completely

Im not as active in the movie industry anymore but I always liked Blackmagic. They’re making Davinci Resolve, a really good video editor. Really generous free tier, pro version is a one-time purchase.

They’re also making affordable cinema cameras. Both of these products really shook up the industry a few years back.

Are you telling me not everyone‘s using Firefox on Linux!?

[-] Pechente@feddit.org 57 points 3 months ago

Probably already installed. That would at least explain the high resource usage of chrome

My town has one of the oldest underground wine cellars in Europe with some bottles up to 300 years old. I talked to somebody maintaining the wine cellar and part of the cork replacement procedure that happens about every 50 years is to taste the wine - just a drop though. Apparently it's pretty awful. His colleague said "You have to taste your way up to one of these!" which sounds like bullshit to me. I bet it doesn't get better after 1700 more years.

oh boy, the average wordpress site has like 30 plugins and the top bar is getting cluttered with so many plugin upsells that it fills the whole screen. There's a huge industry of people making wordpress sites who shouldn't.

It's quite frustrating to be asked as a dev to "fix" people's site as my usual response is "shut it off and redo it well".
