401ks weren't a "mistake" they were designed to give wallstreet traders more money and for that task they have succeeded extremely well.

e: To the tune of $7trillion according to the article.

We've all been there right? You paid for a game, it required an active internet connection and a couple of years later the publisher decided they're done with it and shut it down leaving you with a broken game.

I actually haven't been there, because I correctly never bought a single player game that requires an internet connection.

i absolutely support the idea of banning internet connectivity for single player games though.

Problem, the homes are getting full. The solution: Build more homes? Too complex.

Eh. Same recycled story as the Animal Crossing letters from mom story. Or an even earlier version where their sister/girlfriend/etc etc left a note on some game they were playing, or a version from 5000 years ago where a scroll they were transcribing had a note from a friend who recently died from yellow fever or whatever.

Even better form a township with other like minded folks where pistol firing is at night is a guaranteed right per the town charter. If the charter is changed "substantially" then the charter is dissolved and a new town has to be created with 100% participation from the people living there. If no charter is agreed upon, all public services and taxes are paid to you and controlled by you. The Karen's and corporate landlords who were upset by the guns suddenly find they live in an unincorporated fiefdom, have no garbage collection, municipal water, potentially electricity, sewer, or any other societal niceties. They leave, and you are free to re-incorporate with like-minded comrades.

Obviously the trick is to get the original charter approved by the county/state.

Why not just ignore the stick and go conquer the land that the stick came from? Put houses, trains, and farms on the land and civilize the place?

Ban plastic. There is literally no other way. Nothing you do on an individual level will have the slightest bit of impact at all. Government has to treat plastic like Freon/DDT or any other chemical that was banned world-wide because of huge unexpected impact.

I don't understand what I'm looking at here? Some reddit-ish place is declaring free-speech then they immediately backpedal and say racist stuff doesn't count, and also some admins left? So what is the material difference between a "free speech platform*" and lemmy which also doesn't allow racist stuff?
