winds howling
Payday today!! I'm trying to get the enthusiasm levels up like all you Wednesday pay people from last week, but when you have a strict budget it's all divided up and spent before you get it anyway.
It is nice seeing the car money creeping higher though - I've gone from "could buy another car the same as mine if I crash it" level to being able to get something that's a bit nicer. Slowly moving towards the point I can buy a car I would actually choose to buy without being forced by the death of my current one.
Dammit I've snapped an underwire. Everything was go so well today too. βΉοΈ
I should have tidied up my stationery earlier - I found $100!!!
I recall a couple of years ago thinking I must have been overly optimistic in my estimates of how much money I had received from selling some of my stuff, I guess I was right after all. Shoving my cash inside a random notebook until I could put it in the bank seemed like a good idea at the time.
The woman buying my sewing machine just picked it up. She did not accidentally overpay me by thousands of dollars. I guess the dream was not prophetic.
The new sewing machine inspired me to finish a simple job I've been putting off for ages - I have sewn a zipper into a cardigan my Mum knitted for me ages ago. The machine sews beautifully, I'm very pleased with it.
I have a tomato plant against a wall I was hoping would survive over winter and maybe give some early fruit next year. Not only is it surviving, it has actually produced a tomato! I don't expect it to ripen in this weather, but it definitely bodes well for the early summer fruit plan.
In honour of the dreadful weather today I will be making a beef roast with yorkshire pudding for dinner. With lots of gravy.
Apparently it has been a year since I last changed power/gas companies, so I have just been through the whole energy compare thing again. It is annoying how much of our lives we have to waste on this stuff, and it sucks that we effectively penalise people who can't do this. People like to call it a "lazy tax" to put the moral responsibility on individuals, but in reality it is primarily a penalty on people who struggle because of literacy issues, disability, age etc. A civilised society should be able to manage a fair distribution of essential services, instead we have created a system designed to take more from the most vulnerable people.
De-toothing complete. Apparently the tooth was a stubborn little bugger, with an extra root and twisted on a weird angle. It didn't really hurt having it taken out, but now I'm back home and the anaesthetic is wearing off it is definitely getting painful. π’
I am definitely getting tired and ready to call it a day. I just thanked someone because I opened the door for them.
HUNGRY
Damn hormones. You'd think eating a full dinner might curb the hunger at least a little bit but no, apparently any time I'm not actively stuffing more food down my body is not happy. βΉοΈ
Edit: There is now pudding in the oven.
