It's easier to tell people to just use a rubber when on antibiotics rathern than explain to them that it's only for some unpronounceable substances for most of the population and have them memorize a list of substances for which it's safe to go on as usual - azithromycin is safe, amoxicillin is not. They may sound fairly similar to a layman.

It's because some substances (in this case, antibiotics) mess with the units in your body that process them and prepare them for excretion. They may inhibit or induce them, but these units process a whole load of other stuff. Including birth control, which can lead to less activity from the birth control pills because they're inactivated quicker (in case of induction) or the biotransformation to the active form is slower (in case of inhibition, for prodrugs that are inactive as is, but have active metabolites, no idea if this is the case for birth control though).

A similar thing happens with alcohol, for example, which is why you should always be honest with exactly how much alcohol you drink or what other drugs you take when talking to an anaesthesiologist, or any doctor prescribing you any sort of medicine, lest you risk ineffective anaesthesia or treatment (the first one is worse imo).

Yes, as others have said, it's paracetamol with some other stuff.

Something I've not seen mentioned yet however is to please be mindful that these do contain it and try to not take additional paracetamol (say, in tablet form) without watching your dose. Paracetamol overdose leads to some very nasty effects. Be careful not to exceed the daily dose of paracetamol, as stated in the product insert.

Now I just know this article is wrong:

"But explaining things that reside “only in consciousness”—the red of a sunset, say, or the bitter taste of a lemon—has proven far more difficult"

Lemons are sour, damn it, not bitter! Lemons are part of the universe and sour, so any consciousness that perceives them as bitter is not part of the universe. /s

Also adding to the list of nice things - a picture of the current dictator on all public offices and classrooms. Work and school weeks from Monday to Saturday and a Sunday in which you had to do mandatory free time activities, like go to communist youth clubs, participate in parades for the glory of the state, or plant flowers or do random maintenance work in the park.

I've noticed the arguments tend to center around the notion that 'that wasn't true communism' and that the notions presented by Marx et al. were not properly implemented.

Fair enough, I can agree with that, but I'd wonder what makes us think that we would do it better next time? How do you actually prevent consolidation of power in the hands of the select few (in any system, for that matter, not just the ideal communism)?

Obligatory capitalism is bad too (but at least I'm in less danger of getting vanned in the middle of the night for insulting random great leader - attemtping to undermine the social order or whatever they called thoughtcrimes).

yes, immurement does seem like adequate punishment for his kind

They might be doing it just for this though. To prevent actual russians that want to surrender doing it, you convince the other party that it's usually a trick, so no more accepting surrenders. Then you go back to your own and tell them 'there, now nobody will believe you. you have to fight for us or die'. between this and the brigades hunting down deserters, it's a really nasty spot to be in for those that don't want to fight. Back to fragging then?

I... have some news for you.

Sadly, this is the sort of shit parroted amongst less tech savy populations in countries with Ukranian refugees. Mostly older parents, grandparents, older aunts and uncles and such from Eastern Europe (the first port of call usually for refugees - neighboring countries). Hence why you don't see it that often around here. It's present in the west of Europe, as well.

Also quite popular is 'we can't take care of our own [homeless people], but have you seen the amount of money that the government is pumping into them with their fancy cars?'

Oh and "I'm sick and tired of hearing ukranian everywhere I go. The playground is full of ukranian children and their parents that don't speak {local language}!"

I suspect it's russian propaganda, because nobody can be that stupid on their own, right?

Like sure, they have audi q8s. What were they supposed to do? Leave them there and walk towards new places? And if your daughter/son was fleeing invaders, what would you think of the asshats that point at them and say 'go away with yer fancy car!'? I thought we were all on the same page of not wanting russia as a neighbour in the near future. Apparently not. Somehow people running away from actual rape and murder are inconveniencing them.

Nah. 100k is about enough to buy you a craft beer and a burger there.

the process of eating is not as straightforward as it seems. while manipulating food and chewing it, you do release tiny microscopic particles of it (especially true for something that has the consistency of peanuts) that end up floating in the air. somebody with high enough sensitivity will be affected, as one single strand of the protein responsible (or a single fragment) can trigger anaphylactic shock

edit: I stand corrected, somebody below has linked some studies done on this and it appears to be more about surface contamination, not air exposure. But then if it's surface contamination, that would be an issue from the previous passengers on the flight, not the current ones I think?

I feel like I've seen this sequence of events before

Do not feed the troll. Strange fellas, lying on the internet, arbitrarily defining communism to suit their rose-colored ideology is no basis for a system of debate.

True debate stems from a knowledge of history, past events and conditions that led to them, not some farcical comment (as the one you are replying to).

If I went around in communist times claiming I knew what Marxism-Leninism was just because I read a manifesto, they'd send the secret police after me.
