The original Metroid on NES was so freaking good back in the day. I'm in my late 40s at this point and I still hear songs or themes that make me go "that reminds me of Metroid". The music was iconic.

And it's gotta be said, the original reveal that the hero of the game was a (gasp) girl! I am sure it had an effect on my young impressionable mind. And the good kind of effect, the kind that makes you realize girls can be bad ass too. So awesome!

It's one of my only regrets from switching to linux full time last summer: the PC side of my GamePass Ultimate subscription is now useless because it requires Windows. I get it, but it still bums me out.

On the plus side, I prepaid using some crazy scam/exploit/deal/whatever from SlickDeals so it cost me like less than $100 for three years. And since I still use it on my Xbox regularly, I feel like it was still a... ... slick deal.

There's "not caring about" them and there's "making it so people who could play before now can't". You're purposely shrinking your active user base while simultaneously shutting out a growing segment of the market. In the name of a feature that's arguably not even effective at its goal.

as supposed to

Not to be that guy, but it's "as opposed to". Hope this helps in the future!

Now? They've had the option almost since they first started selling them. It's like $10 to remove them permanently. Honestly didn't realize anyone would get the one with ads on purpose but hey, I didn't think people would use Twitter when I first heard about it either.

Did the definition of "trolls" suddenly change or is this author just using it wrong? Corporate astroturfing? Sure that makes sense. Corporate trolling? Not sure I get the point of that.

No company is your friend. But a smart company finds ways to make money off you while still leaving you happy and content after

Exactly. If this weren't the case, companies wouldn't exist in the first place.

That said, MS has historically been pretty anti-competitive and monopolistic so I don't see any reason to expect that to change. But I think that even at their worst, this isn't going to be as bad as people are making it out to be. Playstation won't go away because of this. Playstation is already worse than Xbox in almost every way, they're just coasting right now. People will point to this merger as a turning point for PS but I think that ignores where PS is already at.

That's correct. v2.0 is included with the base game and comes out tomorrow (Sept 21). The expansion comes out 5 days later on Tuesday.

There are tons of changes with 2.0 that make it worth revisiting even if you don't get PL.

The reviews so far have been fairly positive. I'm pretty eager to jump in to 2.0 tomorrow. I'll have 5 days to get my new character ready for PL!

I just finished a playthrough a couple weeks ago with a Sandevistan+Katana build, which was SUPER fun! I was planning on going Stealth Netrunner for this play through but after seeing all the changes to the existing systems, I am tempted to go Sandy+Sword again. But I will probably control my urges and focus on Stealth to complement the "spy thriller" story of PL.

I'm with you there. I regret buying D4 and it'd probably the last Blizzard game I'll ever buy unless MS cleans house when they acquire them.

I can't hear you over the sound of my mind-flayer parasite.
