What can members of the community who can't code help with?

Piracy doesn't take money from artists, just ask Cory Doctorow, a person making their living as a writer while uploading the torrents of his novels himself.

Corporate consolidation is what kills the artists. The studios make less movies per year, so the a list actors go to television and take the roles Rob Morrow used to get.

You made an offer likely knowing what content your mother consumed.

Also, doing this for her means those charlatans aren't actually getting her money.

Something to consider in favor of doing your mom a solid.

Just make sure you out satanic films in the folder and rename them to Christian themed titles.

Had a computer that had 16gigs of ram when we first bought it but after a windows reset only shows 8gigs. Was told 8 gigs probably got burned and will need to replace motherboard.

What version of Linux should I install on this machine after my wife gets her own new machine?

I kid, I kid.

The only model of journalism that works is public funded/donated.

We need something similar for print media, that isn't just transcriptions of PBS/NPR segments.

A big issue here is that NPR/PBS sources a lot of their journalism from outlets such as Propublica or Bellingcat for national/international stories while relying on local affiliate stations to fill in the gap.

As local journalism dies, NPR and PBS have less places to source from. This is a big issue for democracy and something we need to solve.

Biden has previously mopped the floor with Trump in 2 debates and already made Trump look like a coward for skipping a third scheduled debate.

Nahh, I would say 90% of us here will be voting for Biden.

Will some be stupid enough to vote for a Bobby Kennedy? Maybe? But I suspect a vast minority.

I think revenge porn, whether real or just claiming to be real, is a hard limit for literally everybody on earth who isn't already engaging in that behavior.

Like, I really want to like the libertarian movement. I think there are some good ideas there, but the movement always returns back to this: the defense of sex crimes.

It just bugs me that this is the hill ya'll choose to die on, every single time.

I hate saying that it was different back then, but it just was. Social media was not seen as the way normal people become famous the way it is now.

It was just people attempting to create cool stuff and find a community.

The way we have PBS and NPR, I really think we need to start talking about community shared content hosting. It could go a long way in preserving knowledge without succumbing to corporate greed.
