Mm… again not a lawyer, but I think that question goes beyond the scope of the document.

It basically gives the government permission to hold renters accountable for using software to artificially raise prices. What form that accountability takes is not addressed. Either that’s covered under existing collusion laws or is up to the courts.

So, it’s an essential ingredient to the cake that you’re describing… but unless prosecution (or whatever the term actually is) brings that up (I assume?), it won’t happen.

Serious question:

Would anything short of that lead to reform? I’m not eager for a second Great Depression, but considering we can’t even pretend to get climate change under control, I can’t see the 1% changing their policies until it hurts them, and bad.

I’ve never heard of this guy, but the description sounds right up my ally. I feel like I have a hard time finding humorous fiction. It either ends up being humorous non-fiction or the author is under the misconception that a protagonist being inconvenienced by an in-law counts as humor.

Is this guy’s series any good, and do you guys have any other authors I might want to look into with a preferred emphasis on humor and mystery.

I have half memories of patents for Mac Laptops with cellular modems from like… the late PowerPC early Intel era.

One of Biden’s campaign promises was student loan forgiveness, and while we can thank Republicans for gutting it in its tracks, pursuit of it didn’t really happen until it was advantageous with election season.

Likewise, Biden was initially against the rail strike, but seeing as unions have become a voter issue, it’s important to clean that image.

I’m glad Biden is supporting the Auto workers strike. But I want to see that support continue after it’s politically advantageous before I conclude he’s had a change of heart.

The risk is that Mozilla is in a position to add features and stability at a rate that smaller developers cannot possibly replicate. By doing so they risk becoming the defacto standard (embrace/extend). Then they get to dictate what the entire platform should or should not do. And you’re either on board or left in the dust. And if Mozilla decides that moderating a social network is too much of a liability, then we’re at extinguish.

To be frank, I’m so jaded by big players in this late stage capitalist world that I don’t trust anyone I might otherwise be fine with, like Mozilla.

I mean, we all probably said similar things about Google 20 years ago. It was a liked company that brought a lot of cool innovations to the web. Or even relatively more recently with Chrome. At launch it was liked, but now it’s weaponized.

To be fair, there are far, FAR worse players than Mozilla. I might even be so far as to be convinced they have benign interests at heart at the moment. But corruption always follows domination.

As a former admin, I guarantee no one seriously reads those logs outside of happenstance. It takes the users speaking up to warrant that.
