The worst car I’ve ever driven was also the best because it lasted me until I was able to get on my own two feet and afford a new one: Nissan Sentra 97’.

  • around 200,000 miles the engine literally began falling out from the bottom of the rusted frame. I took it to a mechanic and they ran a wire underneath to hold it in place. Drove it for 5 more years after that!
  • Driver side window would not stay closed during Chicago winters so I glued it shut.
  • Dashboard lights burnt out.
  • Muffler would scrape across the pavement as I courted my girlfriend (now wife) around town.

I just watched the trailer and downloaded the demo. Excited to give it a try. The art style looks very unique and gameplay reminded me of an old Xbox game called Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Speaking of which I never even owned that game but sunk hundreds of hours into the demo lol.

Thank you! This entire post is my little way of poking fun at the current state of things. It’s as if the market tries to set a singular narrative for new games/products and it’s very hard to provide honest feedback if it goes against the grain in any way.

I don't have an iPad 😆

And the experience of using a dedicated device for the task seems more pleasant to me anyway. I did try the Backbone but it annoyingly required me to take the case off my phone every time I wanted to play.

Could these be the negative and positive thoughts within ourselves?

Thank you so much for the explanation!

I’m going to sound like a total idiot but if our universe was at the center of a ginormous sphere could that give an illusion that every point in space was moving away from another when in fact we could all be falling (getting pulled by gravity) toward whatever edge of the sphere we are closest to?

All of life involves doing things to pass the time. What makes video games (and all hobbies) different is that you do it voluntarily because you enjoy it.

I too have a job that I like very much (love is a strong word for a place of employment because if I didn’t have bills I wouldn’t be working let’s be real). I also have a home that I am happy in, a loving partner and a young son.

I achieved most of these things thanks to video games. They got me interested in computers which led to a lucrative career in technology. They helped me unwind after countless long days of work which kept me from losing my mind. They led to life long friendships due to the shared common interest. I was able to pick up my wife thanks to what I learned from Leisure Suit Larry, etc.

I guess what I’m saying is a healthy relationship with any hobby can be good, or bad when taken to an extreme.

Why can’t I tell anyone? Would they kill me if I did?

Although I think his heart is in the right place, he is essentially peddling bird NFTs.

I do slide back from time to time to be perfectly honest! What really helps me though is muscle memory. For example, the Books app on my iPhone sits where my (third party) Reddit app used to be. That way when I reach for my phone during those short moments of downtime throughout the day I’m more likely to read something a little more meaningful.

For video games specifically I try to consume less meta content such as gameplay videos and reviews. I fell into this trap where I would spend so much time researching a new game and watching other people play it that by the time I got my hands on it a lot of the novelty wore off and I had little interest left.

There's no way to add an automated rule -> if c/asklemmy then comment should have 5 words minimum else don't allow reply?

I laughed out loud at this suggestion. Love it. I can imagine this could lead to some confusion if a user blocks a common name, like John Smith... but let me give it some more thought!
