Aesthetics, plus the seductive appeal that pre-modern, pre-liberal-democratic societies (when the governments were authoritarian, the women were submissive, and the men "were men") have for reactionaries, incels, and cryptofacists.

As if there were any doubt about the Israeli government's disregard for human rights, you have members of the Likud party openly saying that anyone held in detention (without trial) in the Sde Teiman concentration camp is a terrorist and therefore "anything can be done to them", including torture and rape.

I assume the US State Department will surely note this as evidence of war crimes and take appropriate action...

This story has haunted me for the last day or so since I read about. I advise caution before deciding to read all the details, as it's pretty fucking bleak and heartbreaking.

And yet this is what Western Governments are enabling while the mainstream media ignore or minimize It. Imagine if this story was the headline on CNN...

To be fair, they call themselves The Satanic Temple. If they didn't want to court the "dark messenger" notoriety in the first place, they would just call themselves something serious like The Humanist Society.

Certain parts of the media/political establishment certainly tried to paint him that way, but really he was only guilty of not being hawkish enough on Russia.

He was always in favor of a ceasefire and a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine conflict instead of perpetuating an endless war.

this old man shot this young man for seemingly no reason

That itself is reason enough for this story to go viral. The racial element was just the icing on the cake.

Don't forget the Jewish student who is being paraded around mainstream news outlets after allegedly being "stabbed in the eye" at a protest.

Oddly enough, the video of the actual incident rarely seems to be played on air during her segments. I wonder why 🤔

Two volunteer doctors working with Doctors Without Borders were killed by a direct hit from an Israeli airstrike on Al Awda hospital back in November, so that's at least one example.

Gotta love the Christian nationalist infighting.

This is essentially what the Defund The Police idea was all about before it got killed politically. Instead of putting additional $millions per year into the local PD, spend that money on additional outreach programs and first-responders with counseling training instead of having armed cops showing up on every scene.

It's interesting primarily since there has been lot of controversy surrounding the claims that widespread rape and sexual assault were carried out by Hamas during the October 7th attacks, mostly due to an incendiary article that appeared in the NYT and was widely repeated across international media.

Since the release of that article, there has been quite a bit of pushback, even from certain journalists in the NYT itself, centred around the fact that the author of the article was a young Jewish filmmaker with ties to the Israeli military who was not even a professional journalist. (You can read more about the problems with that piece here.)

In any case, there has been a lot of back and forth over whether these stories of mass rape were credible, so this lastest UN investigation helps to clarity the extent to which sexual violence may have occured.

Bingo.

Despite what the clickbait headline says, the main barrier to entry is not just knowing what an operating system is but the know-how to go about replacing the one that came with the computer in the first place. The decision over which distro to choose is relatively easy once you've got past that initial stage.
