I'm running truenas scale with truecharts and I manage all users and groups with the LLDAP chart, which is an stripped down version of ldap. I'm considering deploying another server and running 389ds with replication to increase the features and to learn more about ldap, but overall lldap covers all my necessities regarding user and group managment in all my homelab apps
TrueNAS scale with truecharts for my main server. I'm considering rolling out a compute only server with openSUSE microOS to leave trueNAS only for storage. I like openSUSE philosophy and microOS with cockpit seems solid on my tests. I might start with some old laptops and deploy the ldap server there to test it and remove that responsability from TrueNAS.
If you've used an espresso machine you will know that every single small change, even new fresh beans, fucks up the setup and you have to dial everything again, so I think it fits better with another one. I use arch btw.
I've been reading the whole thing expecting the moment you've forget about it for a week and then come back obsessively, but every few lines you remember me that you are still on meds, and I can't wrap my mind around having ADHD and being able to focus on a task for so long. I hope my doctor calls me soon to start at least the diagnosis...
I believe that this is the key. Some people consider a text message syncronous and other asyncronous. I remember using text as some evolution of MSN messenger, and my friends did as well, so it was syncronous, but as time has passed and I'm more bussy, i now see it more like email, so asyncronous.
There are still times where both individuals are online and the asyncronous texting becomes syncronous, but it has become more the exception than the rule.
