Does anybody actually use that feature though?

This isn't a disagreement. One person is stating something incorrect. You can disagree on opinion, but facts are facts. The person being referred to here isn't asking others to learn Rust, they are just asking for more information about the already existing C code so that they can write their Rust code to interoperate with it. This misunderstanding is exactly why that developer was getting heckled on stage, and is the reason why now one has left the project. I would appreciate it if you didn't make a misunderstanding sound like a valid opinion. Enough damage has already been done.

The annoying thing is I have had people claim that 8GB and 16GB is fine on Apple and works better than on PC laptops. To the point one redditor point blank refused to believe I owned an Apple laptop. I literally had to take a photograph of said laptop and show it to them before they would believe me about the RAM capacity.

This exactly. The reason people left reddit is because of the actions of the people running the site, not the user base or culture.

I don't think Stalin liberated anyone. His own subordinates were terrified of him, and he murdered his political enemies like Leon Trotsky.

I am not praising crowdstrike here. They fucked up big time. I am saying that the concept of security software needing kernel access isn't that unheard of, and is unfortunately necessary for a reason. There is only so much a security thing can do without that kernel level access.

That's not what's happening here. Not all marxists are okay with covering up Tiananmen Square or supporting the CCP. I used to be part of a Trotskyist org and they wouldn't be caught dead supporting either Stalin or the CCP. Anarchists certainly aren't okay with it, and they are further left than you are. Stop pretending all your enemies are liberals.

You didn't read the post at all did you?

It's still a modular, repairable phone. That's objectively different to a regular phone. Not to mention the broad support for ROMs.

I still wouldn't buy one because of the cost, reduced performance, reduced battery life, and worse screen than other phones. It's not worth it even if it's upgradable as it can't be upgraded enough to stay relevant forever anyway unlike a framework where you can plop in a new motherboard.

UAC is no different from having a sudo password. They both have security measures. Sudo actually has fairly granular permissions if you can be bothered to set them up.

Windows still allows you to modify system files it's just more difficult. If you want a Linux system that doesn't let you do that those exist too, they are called immutable linux distros.

Missing the fact Open Source software is generally more secure because more people are looking at the code. You don't need to see the source to find a vulnerability, you do need it to patch one properly though.

I think something is wrong with me then. When I start something early it normally ends up with me losing momentum part way through, stopping for ages, then having to work like mad at the end anyway. That or I end up changing project idea and having to start again. Both of these ended up happening with my dissertation.

Like even when I start stuff at the right time it goes to shit. Somehow when I do stuff last minute it mostly turns out fine.
