yes replacement and improvement, but unexpected keyboard is true innovation. I really like it but for diacritics and "special letters" its just not as good. to type â for example i need to hold a, then select the letter, whilst in unexpected keyboard I just need to swipe a upwards right.

oh I will say it again ... those two apps need to have a baby 😅

Chapelier Fou, but kinda went into a "symphonic direction" over the years I guess, but maybe you still like the older stuff? My personal favorite.

Finally some good news from ecowas, but seems it relied heavily on the decisions of Individuals? It would probably be beneficial to further evaluate the structure and mechanisms of this group. I don't know much about it, but what I gathered so far gave me the impression it is mainly some kind of self destruct button in case of continent getting independent

Also, if an embassy is not recognized, what stops the police from going inside and simply arrest and deport the staff?

yea, but this is what will bring failure over the whole idea of "fediverse". so just enjoy while it lasts and stop building cultlike echo chambers.

Uh, pointing out comments and shaming them would now be kinda ironic, so I'd rather not elaborate.

Assume your [morally positive family member here] is always watching.

You mean big brother, right? Had me literally laughing tears for over a minute 🤣🤣🤣

Yea, good points, it remains to be seen if the push for socialism/nationalism in those countries is a) genuine and b) will actually work and not just result in a situation where the old thieves are replaced by new thieves.

Putin is [...] pushing the anti colonialism narrative everywhere in West Africa. It is working to an extend.

Regarding this, I was also super confused by this article: Burkina Faso's new president condemns imperialism, quotes Che Guevara, allies with Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba

It paints a very favorable picture of President Traoré (from a socialist, anti-imperialist viewpoint, really stuff that I find interesting and support, worth a read), but then:

On July 29, Traoré had a private meeting in Saint Petersburgh with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In their talks, the Burkinabè leader praised the Soviet Union for defeating Nazism in World War II.

Like, I cannot even imagine the awkwardness of that moment ... 🤦‍♂️

Maybe he just had no other friendly things to say, who knows, but it's also possible that he fails to understand that modern Russia is NOT the Soviet Union.

But yea, hoping for the best.

I appreciate your comment and agree with you on all the points, except with

greening the economy is going to be expensive;

standards of living have to drop if you want to live at all.

I think that those thoughts should even more be hammered into the brains of all citizens.

The problem is the wrong focus. We always hear about “energy crisis” but seldomly about a "producing too much shit that is designed to fall apart after a few months crisis", also barely any talks about the forever ongoing "producing too many one-time use items with materials that take a million years to decompose crisis".

So the focus should not be on the question if greening the economy will be expensive (because it will be), but on expensive for who - the billionaires or the working class?

To illustrate: I need to buy a new fruit mixer every 2 years. If it were illegal to produce fruit mixers which are designed to break in such a short time, my standards of living would not drop; they would increase.

And a remark regarding the commentary by Urs P. Gasche; dont take it too literal, he might even agree with you, who knows. It's kinda how the Swiss tend to complain; mixing passive-aggressive sarcastic hyperbole and cover it in friendliness and overall agreement. Infosperber is one of the few (german-language) sites that dares to critically question stuff surrounding the conflict with Russia, Ukraine, and NATO. They are not pro-Russia, but they regularly demonstrate serious efforts to understand and explain what's actually going on, and provide different perspectives. Link to the articles.
