No, your not really wrong, it's just the tone that comes off as blaming others for their failures.

There's a place for that but it is IMO not really on a public forum. Praise in public and criticize in private is good life advice. Maybe your tone is unintentional due to the nature of internet text communication.

To me, it seems like you could stop and realize that making sound financial decisions isn't as big of a factor to most people as it is to you. There is more to life than worrying about money.

Corporate media does hyperfocus on that but I don't think it helps make our (North American) society happy. It distracts us with escapism and temporary happy emotions.

It is so ass backwards that they functionally require(d) an intermediary to file online. It would be so much easier to just have a literal email address (or webpage) where you could send your taxes. Too bad the vast majority of our politicians serve business interests (money) and not the American people.

The pentagon literally needs to be dismantled or broken up. Any other organization of a comparable size that failed to account for its assets for 6 years would be in deep doo-doo. But because it's funded from stolen wages largely from the working class, I guess its okay.

It is very easy to get discouraged with various ideologies as they are often based in the abstract and therefore hard to apply to the real world. With that said I'll give you a slice of my own thinking / research on the matter. At a high abstract level, I think most economies needs to be more socially owned instead of privately owned and more market based rather than command based. Some possible theories and policies to help bring this change about are Mutualism and Georgism.

Mutualism encourages the concepts of mutual aid, workplace democracy and self management(cooperatives), and dual power. Dual power is essentially building alternative institutions to the ones that already exist in society until they can eventually supplant the existing institutions. Direct Action also plays a big role in anarchism in general and therefore Mutualism.

Also some georgism inspired policies such as a UBI and a Land Value Tax to be good starting points as far as policy as they are policies that could redistribute wealth from capitalists(1%) to the people.

There is obviously a lot more to unpack especially relating to Mutualism. Interestingly, there is a service built with the principles of mutual aid and direct action built and administered by @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com called AI Horde.

The underlying principles of direct action, mutual aid, and to a lesser degree dual power are ones that be implemented in your own life and are good places to focus your research in my opinion.

Or it's also because they're trying to hijack people's maternal/paternal instincts. It's just an easy way of manipulating parents espically.

What is more scary to me than some people fighting halfway across the world is how quickly people get so worked up over it. There are 14 other conflicts happening throughout the world that are similar in scale but you never hear about them because they are relatively poor countries. Humans have fought each other all throughout our history. Guess what? It still happens. It is quite simply decades of propaganda that causes such an intense reaction to an event like this. People only care about this because the people in charge of their media bubbles want them to care about it.

Yes, Hamas did a bad thing. No one is denying that. But take a step back and look at the context of the past 20 years. Israel has done many bad things to Palestine over the past years. Israel has killed ~10k+ Palestinians in the past 20 years vs the ~1k the Israelis that Palestinians have killed.

It is not surprising that pissed off enough Palestinians to convince them to do something about it. It is only surprising if you are only seeing tiny snippets of the big picture fed to you by one of the parties supporting the conflict.

I share the same sentiment but I can see why someone might want to not support Youtube in any way because they don't want to support Google's stranglehold on the internet. Unfortunately the correct way to address that problem is sensible regulation. Call me skeptical, but that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Military nominees are usually bundled together and confirmed by a voice vote in the Senate to speed along appointments but under the senate’s rules a single senator can hold up this process.

This is the real world consequences of republican 'leadership' in the house. Extreme republicans like tuberville and gaetz can capture attention from the traditional news outlets for weeks because they forced mccarthy to relax rules like this.

In this case it allows tuberville to rail against 'abortion' when he is actually attacking time off for reproductive care for women. It is not abortion he has an issue with; it is women caring about whether or not they can or should have a baby.

Never heard of the Battle of Seattle. What was it about?

The government is supposed to regulate to level the playing field between consumers and big business.

Too bad our regulation framework is captured by the same people who own those companies and their friends.
