I was looking at an old photo from a scrapbook I found and I was trying to see something a bit clearer and started to do that two finger zoom in thing you do on digital photos...technology really has changed things.

It is a bit cliche, but I just bought myself a typewriter. I am ridiculously excited to get it.

A person with the surname 'Hands' logged a ticket today saying 'Could you please assist me with [blahblahblah]' and I feel like she missed the greatest opportunity.

I've had a wonderful start to the week. Since it's book week I got invited to a couple of schools. I did some talking about my books and writing and read a couple of chapters to kids from grades 3/4 and 5/6. I asked the kids if they liked scary stories, and then what scary stories they like and one kid said 'Revenge of the Flightless' which had me all teary-eyed.

Also scored a box of chocolates.

Yesterday I was a 'celebrity' reader for another school so I read a couple of chapters to about 40 kids who mostly seemed enthralled (though I am sure I heard one kid whispering 'this is boring' lol). And after that I did a writing workshop. I thought I'd get like 5 kids interested, but had 30. It was like my own classroom and we started thinking about stories and how we write them and I got them to talk about scary experiences in their lives and how we can use them as ideas for stories, creating characters and all that. It was really fun.

I got the 92 on my assignment.

I was also told that the librarian at my daughters school (who recently bought my books for their library) is reading them and really likes them.

This morning I got a message from the parent of one of the kids in the workshop thanking me for doing it and how her son came home talking about it, and being confident in sharing his work (I mentioned at the end to not be afraid of sharing their work with friends and family and how it took me 35 years to have that courage).

And finally, I volunteered to read in my daughters class this morning (not my books) and I got to see a glimpse of how classrooms look and work before I got to read. It went well which was good and my daughters face was priceless (despite her asking me to do it).

So all in all a damn good week so far.

I may have got 92 on my last assignment, but I could raygun this current one. NFI what I am doing.

I am keen for this day to end. I am making a double cheeseburger for dinner and gonna watch that new Aussie show, Fake with Asher Keddie and David Wenham.

I scored in the 75%-100% \ 4th quartile on my CASPer (the ghost) test when I had covid which means I scored better than 75%-100% of the other test takers. The test must have been held in a cemetery for me to be able to do that well.

I have some potentailly really good news coming today. I'm probably jinxing it by even hinting at it now but I'm excited if it happens.

I'm alive. I'm not struggling. My daughter is happy and healthy. I can do the things I love.

Finished writing letters to all the submissions for my writing competition. They all did such a magnificent job, and some of the stories were genuinely really good with interesting themes and ideas and twists that I decided to make them all winners. So they all get signed copies of my book.

I went to one school on Wednesday and announced the winners at assembly. Public speaking is not fun, but I think I did ok. But what really got me was as I was sitting and waiting, one of the kids randomly asks for a high five. Which I obliged. And the girl next to him goes 'Don't you know who that is? That's [my name]. The author.', which is a all sorts of absurd and crazy and awesome and yeah.
