Stremio + Real debrid.

Stremio is a platform to watch any media you like (works very similar to Plex), you can use it as it is, and install the plugins that are more useful to you (torrentio for example). If your country has strict laws, then you can use real debrid to convert the torrents to direct downloads, you just need to open an account in real debrid, pay a few dollars a month (no need to pay for a VPN as direct downloads are ok), and link your account to stremio, and then you'll have access to lots of content.

But I only use it to watch the latest linux distributions, nothing like spending a Sunday afternoon watching Fedora 40 while it's raining outside.

Check out the new video by "some more news", it's more comedy than anything, by it deals with some reputable sources.

The effect is not clear cut, and there are many other confounding effects that might be more important, and being glued to your phone might be a symptom more than a cause, but I agree that excessive social media and short format videos are bad for you, but that can be said about video games or even regular games.

Yeah, I'm almost 100% sure the "tiktok is damaging kid's brains" is the millennial equivalent of boomers "videogames and TV are damaging kid's brains".

I'm a millennia by the way, and we are starting to sound a bit afraid of technologies.

Exactly, it's a ridiculous example because it sounds just as ridiculous as saying US and EU are in principle the same type of union.

I was being hyperbolic with my last sentence so you can see how ridiculous your statement sounds to me.

Well it was not clear what you were referring to. The comment you replied was talking about the rules, not the kids wearing dirty clothes.

Since when Lemmy got full of pretentious twats that label everyone stupid for having a misunderstanding that is clearly their fault?

I don't think it's immoral, but who in their right mind takes Elon seriously? Would you really accept 1 billion dollar from a known attention-seeker scammer, if you tattoo your forehead? No thanks.

If this were coming from Jeff, or even a drug lord, I would probably be ok with it, as long as they are serious and without childish conditions.

Read between the lines, when an expert has ever said "I want to know everything", OP is clearly a beginner in the subject.

Hey you can now use the bus lanes at midnight pm on a Sunday, and have extra parking spots in Peckham. It benefits everyone!

Googledrive works as network drive and that's a problem. Have you tried to run MATLAB scrips with a virtual drive? Or open an obsidian vault in a virtual drive?

What I mean by "personal cloud services" is actually trying to avoid those professional cloud storage that you mention, not everyone wants to selfhost or pay for teras of storage. I just want my personal files to be accessible from my work computers (has to be windows, not my choice) and my personal computers (Linux based).

Yeah, that works as intended, what I meant is to have offline files, (full on sync folders) not only the virtual disc mounted. I work with lots of scripts (MATLAB) and the speed is significantly slower for virtual files.

I'll take a horrible billionaire investing in malaria research over a manchild billionaire obsessed with naming everything X.

That's a font/design issue, not a character issue. If that were the case, then no one could use any letters (or unicode characters) for their logo.
