Wow! That's going to save the state of Texas so much money! It's expensive to house people against their will for enjoying forbidden plants in their own homes. 🙄

I see it as making fun of the religious people who do this when their kids question God from something they read in the Internet. Like a uno reversal on crazy parent responses.

But to be fair, if YouTube themselves don't make anything then the service that hosts my content creators isn't sustainable. So just getting premium feels like the most moral option all things considered, at least for me.

I just think I'm irritated with watching ads enough to pay to not need to. I also think I watch multiple YouTube videos nearly everyday, so I just consider it paying $0.05 to skip the ad automatically and still support the company and creators both.

ReVanced resurrected Sync for Reddit for me, maybe I should check out what ReVanced does for YouTube.

I used revanced on sync for Reddit to keep it alive past it's death date, though I'm much more engaged with Lemmy since Sync released for it too.

What makes the revanced version of YouTube better to you? Maybe I should check it out.

My reply to all the naysayers:

Thanks for making Lemmy feel like home, it wouldn't without you!

The reality is it's a free world, regardless of what morality you put on things there are going to be things that happen that you don't like. That's life.

Like it or not Lemmy has had explosive growth because of apps like Sync. Because of them being killed off by Reddit. If it weren't for the drama of Reddit doing that, I and millions of other users wouldn't be here right now as we'd still be on Reddit.

Even people who weren't using the 3rd party apps left Reddit because Reddit's actions left a bad taste in their mouths.

So, morality of one guy charging for his honest work in creating the paid or ad supported app aside, you should be thanking the apps including sync for helping drive so many users to Lemmy.

If you yourself don't want to use a paid app, then that's okay! We're all allowed to respond or react to things how we want, but being incredibly divisive for something that a lot of people wanted and that really is inconsequential is almost universally frowned on.

Just let people do what they want and don't shoot them down for it. More options for browsing Lemmy = more Lemmings = more content.

Most Americans have no clue what the rest of the world is like.

Most Americans don't even understand the progressive income tax system we have, they will go so far as to decline raises because it'll put them in a higher bracket and they think that will mean less take home pay. It doesn't! You should always take a raise!

I believe I'll someday move to a country that has good policies for everything from healthcare, to work life balance, and social safety nets, and I'll never have to deal with the American nightmare again.
