I find it hard to believe that Google phones wouldn't have a hardware±SIM backdoor no matter what ROM is installed.

This technology already was in place on Intel ME desktops using a operating system on a chip called MINIX

That and phones far exceed surveillance perfection and device count vs PC.

Anything not RISCV and with a binary blob is a vector.

How about a Linux Patch that reports binary blobs wirh no source AS __ Security Vulnerabilities __

Or are we not allowed to criticize the back doors that hackers gain access to.

We'll see if Valve's partnership with Arch expands, it's been suggested that Valve could do signature verification on the OS as a fork of verification.

It would be nice of Valve could put this issue to rest considering its the top blocker on some leaderboards games.

Personally I hope they solve it by making it "opt-in" for "Verified Multiplayer" as opposed to opt-out 'take it or leave it' as many games get canned robbing purchasers of their ability to enjoy abandoned games.

Is Mozilla that involved in Thunderbird? IIRC their revitalization happened more under The Thunderbird Foundation after Mozilla put them out to pasture to die after years of neglect.

Even owning Smart devices and having them always plugged in may potentially be a vector, Rob did a good breakdown on how this is achieved.

Did you know that your IOT devices are secretly communicating with each other? This includes IOT devices that are not in your home. Did you know that what your IOT devices do may be transmitted to third parties? Did you know that your TV may also have the capability and may currently be transmitting your activity far and wide?

There are secret communications occurring between IOT devices using protocols like Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, Thread, 802.15, and LoRa that you likely didn't expect or was not explained when you bought these devices.

Just like Amazon Echo has been conscripted to work with the Amazon Sidewalk Mesh network, other networks are in operation

Just like the xz backdoor I agree "nothing to see here, move along" seems like bad advice.

It is curious to wonder how much state actors and militaries are involved in weaponizing FOSS culture to purge potential perceived opponents.

For this reason sticking to technological merit and leaving personal beliefs out of FOSS seems wise.

FOSS shouldn't be state actor's play thing. When leadership behaves radically and is exclusive it looses my respect & support.

Not all agree, but I wish it were smaller. I like being able to hold in my hand without developing wrist pain. I know 6.5ish is already on the small side but 6 or 5.5 or a thin profile aspect ratio might be a selling point.

Feels like most phones are in a meh* aspect ratio.

If it makes Steam stay at #1 and stimulates development of titles we respect it's worth every penny.

Upvote/downvote system turns content to a "popularity contest".

There is no way to categorize content by " funny", "insightful", " serious", "scientific", " helpful", etc...

Steam is a good example of this done right, comments can be given Trophies, misskey does Emoji's IIRC
