There you have it folks. Its expensive and you pay upfront. Most people don't have $1500 laying around to wing at a phone yet alone a $500 emergency budget sadly. Especially these days.

I was so desperate I was thinking of reprogramming a wireless number pad cherry MX low profile or something.

It should have volume buttons, arrow keys, previous, next, pause, etc... Something a old person could understand.

Numbers and alphabet not required.

This question really begs the point that cam and mic need kill switches that physically disconnect these things with a simple switch.

One of you go make a wall mounted light switch thing with a red LED for Workstations and sell it -- I could see this becoming standard.

Laptop world is going to take more inroads from slacker hackers scratching their own itch.
