I don't understand why you'd use GDP here. Is the assumption that, normalized for currency differences, all countries have the same gdp? That's not true.

I think argued earlier that tue money goes less far in the us because the cost of living is higher, so then normalize by cost or standard of living? But even that would assume that the average wage in the country is supporting the same lifestyle in both Russia and the us. Which it isn't. Some countries live "better" than others.

I think raw numbers are probably best here. 100 trillion in military spending is 100 trillion.

My anti abortion friends will say "the problem is they don't care about the children after they're born" and then happily go vote for trump again this Nov because their church told them joe Biden is the devil.

Why would sa make a deal with him? It would have to be secret and there's zero chance he would abide by it later. If he wins and they kill him its a war. If he loses they've bought nothing anyway....

There is no revelation though. It doesn't even make sense. Why would the republican controlled house be sitting on information like this?

Taibbii is a hack. Read his Wikipedia page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Taibbi. It's full of "things" he did as a journalist, none of which is investigating or doing any journalism.

I think Biden makes compromises. That's the leftists argument against him. But here he's probably weighing the cost of pissing off a Jewish block of support and leftists.

I also doubt it's much of a choice. The leftist won't support him regardless because he's not bernie sanders.

I don't think people like the walled garden. I think they don't know what it is even. They assume they can't buy a competitors headset/watch/tv because it won't work, and often they're probably right because apple refuses use open protocols. But I don't think they draw the line between the two. It's not because of apple refusing to implement something it doesn't work. It's because "the competitor is bad", or because they don't have the "deep integration" between the two or something. It never occurs to them that if you just make the API public it suddenly "just works" for everyone.

Genuinely curious, do real people actually use ipads?

I start d (slowly) reading this and... Is this how legal briefs are written? It seems like a reddit blog post. For instance in the examples section they write "SJp ... is one of the most vitriolic antisemitic networks on college campuses. SJP was founded by the chairman of American Muslims for Palestine (“AMP”), the leadership of which overlaps with the leadership of organizations that have been shut down by federal authorities, whose assets were frozen by the U.S. Treasury Department, or that were found liable in civil actions for providing material support to Hamas. SJP receives funding and training from AMP as well as from universities. SJP and its affiliates sponsor antisemitic events, host antisemitic speakers..." All of which I'm reading expecting a citation somewhere... Anywhere. It seems like easily verifiable stuff. But there is none. Is this how legal briefs are written?

But their software is just blocking based on browser. Their message to you is not "don't use an ad blocker". It's "use chrome and you won't have this problem". Theyre literally just hoping to abuse their position as a monopoly in video to try and strengthen their monopoly on browsers.

The mere use of the words "cheap Chinese" in the title here is meant to inspire racism though. It's intentional too. Our government encourages and spreads it to encourage Americans to view themselves as better or more valuable than Chinese people. It works.

I mean, ipads are pretty bloated with shitty version of things on launch too. Basically my first week with them is always trying apples apps and then realizing they're awful and downloading something else.

I've always found the Tpm complaints a little suspicious. The same people who go on and on about how much they worry about security and privacy and how MS doesn't care, suddenly just don't give a shit in these cases. I assume they mostly just want to shit on stuff.

It's a good to push to make it standard and hardware manufacturers wont without a good old shove.
