He went to the hostpital for trouble breathing.

In the hospital he was intubated. He got pneumonia and then MRSA in his blood.

I was asked to relocate to Texas for a position when I was hired. I said no thanks and went to the NYC office instead.

I know I wasn't the only one to do this.

They were trying to hire in Austin and instead only found NYC talent. Tough break for them.

GrapheneOS + Linux Is the only way to truly have digital privacy.

Most people think iPhone + Mac is. So, so wrong.

This article is bullshit: they're reporting that a blueprint was made. No demonstration, no proof of it working.

Rotary detonation isn't a new concept and GE has demonstrated a rotary detonation scramjet for 0 - Mach 5.

https://www.geaerospace.com/press-release/other-news-information/ge-aerospace-demonstrates-hypersonic-dual-mode-ramjet-rotating

If you really think that 0 to Mach 16 is within reach with current technology RDEs I have a bridge to sell you.

Darpa has all the money of God and they've been throwing billions at the exact problem of rotary detonation. Everybody knows that detonation is more fuel efficient than deflagration and that turbine engines are holding jet aircraft back from hypersonic flight.

When they make a Mach 16 demonstrator I'll believe them. Until then I'm still very excited for the demonstrated and actual capabilities of RDE Scramjets.

Laid Off = Employee did nothing wrong

Fired = Employee did something wrong (according to the company)

There's a legal difference. Never say you were fired if you can avoid it.

Matter is absolutely game changing: it's gotten full support from Apple, Google, Amazon as well as most HA manufacturers.

With Matter you'll see significant improvements to whatever system you use to control your HA because you don't need 7 protocols and 3 hubs and 4 apps to run everything: it's the open standard we've needed with 1 protocol, 1 setup and pick your preferred app.

Aka how to ensure that all the data Facebook has on you never goes away. This is terrible advice.

If you're just trying to leave Facebook I recommend going the deletion route then filtering all emails from them.

The email describes a hostile takeover: buy enough stock to own the board then pressure the company to sell.

Coding is something you can do for longer stretches as you get better at it. I struggle with 3 or 4 hours straight out of college. Now I run 7 hours no problem.

The dichotomy is that the more proficient you are at coding, the more meetings you need to be in to give engineering input... So the less time you spend coding. As a staff SWE I'm rarely able to get more than 3 or 4 hours straight to sit and code. Rather it's an hour here or there broken up my meetings.

I relish my no-meeting days to sit and actually get concepts out into code.

I'm spent at the end of 7 hours coding though. I've crunched to 14 before... But the code I wrote was shit for 5 of those hours.

Friendly reminder that statistics like this that aren't adjusted per various should be taken with a grain of salt until the per capita* figures are available from the CDC.

Just like murder rates etc: if you take only the highest number of something and don't adjust by population it's unclear if it's actually worse than it has ever been or not. It's not even clear if it is worse than last year without per capita figures.

Not trying to minimize the tragedy of suicide but a lot of people read meaning into figures like this without context.
