Fairphone should sell phones outside of Europe

Unfortunately neither of us get what we want

Look up Kit Cars and other types of aftermarket mods. Usually it's an issue of getting the DMV to register it when it claims to be a Toyota but doesn't look like one. Roadworthiness inspections are expensive and you need to have exhaustive detail on everything.

Ultimately it costs tens of thousands of dollars to do, at which point it makes more sense to just buy a nicer car (for most people)

[...] Schumer has written into the bill "jurisdiction stripping" measures that would remove the Supreme Court's authority to render the legislation unconstitutional, and allow only lower courts in the District of Columbia to handle a legal challenge. Such jurisdiction stripping has been seldom used in the past and would likely be highly controversial.

TIL Jurisdiction Stripping - Wild I thought that Sup Court always had that check on Congress.

It's not extracted as-is from yams. Yams have diosgenin - which needs to be extracted, cleaned and then put through a few chemical processes to be useful.

Plants are viable sources of precursors not of the end result, and many of these precursors aren't useful in biological processes.

Scientific studies have not shown Men to have substantial estrogen level changes from drinking soy.

The fact that DMCA requests don't have to be signed with an asymmetric key that lets you validate the company that sent it was actually behind the request is some of the dumbest shit.

We've known how to use certs online forever. Certainly well before the DMCA. Why the fuck wasn't that a provision?

Oh right because our politicians are tech illiterate apes.

Reddit would not let actual sentiment be shown, which is part of why the comments are locked (archived). If you're an advertiser they'll bend over backwards to please you. Guaranteed.

5 years ago people were down voting ads to oblivion. Now? They've got controls for that.

I think there's a second, unstated issue at play here: you're experiencing a very deep cognitive bias. An exploit in the human brain.

The human brain is a fantastically complex piece of meat but one of its many issues is the anthropomorphic bias: the tendency to ascribe human traits, especially agency and cognition, to things or animals that do not have those traits.

We tend to believe if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck it must be a duck. ChatGPT is a very complex and highly specialized algorithm that outputs data just like another online human... But 100% of it is just a model processing your input and returning it back out. It talks like a human but is more akin to notepad than it is to us.

To be clear: that bias exists in everyone. We all do this. Anytime I talk about my dog scheming to get my attention I'm hitting that bias. Anytime my robot vacuum interrupts me doing the dishes I talk at it and tell it to go away. I interact with the world around me as though most things are human.

This is what is commonly referred to as "toxic masculinity". That's the crux of what they're talking about. It's not just that men are taught to be dangerous to those around them, it's that we're also taught to be hard and lonely Islands that seek no support.

It's no way to live and it crushes you over time.
