They are not trying to "replace" cookies. This is effectively adding yet another way to track users. Sure, may not be as invasive as cookies, but this does nothing to remove or modify them either.

Then there's the fact thay they deployed this behind the scenes and did not mention it until they were called out.

This comment alone:

"As part of this work, we are also committing to being transparent and open about our intent and plans prior to launching tests or features."

... means they have no intention to be honest about shit.

Sceptre TVs. All dumb, affordable and are great in terms of panel. That's my next brand now that my old LG Nanocell is already showing dead pixels.

They do sell smart TVs too, but that's not what any of us is looking for.

Agreed. After 4 years on PFSense, and that becoming basically a second job, I pulled the trigger and got a Unifi USG-Ultra, and my life is now all rainbows and unicorns.

Change the baby for a dog. You're welcome.

You need to take all your passwords out of LastPass and move to anything else. Bitwarden, ProtonPass, KeyPass, even Nextcloud, but run away from LastPass as soon as humanly possible. That shit and screaming your credentials at the top of your lungs while someone records it is the same crap.

I'm basically running all my self-hosted services over CF tunnels. Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative to this? I'd like to remove CF from my life, but not at the expense of poking port holes in my FW.

Normal technology situations created by normal human behavior. 😜

I did too, never again. Fedora just works.

I get that, but we can't go around assuming stuff and blasting people over assumptions. We don't know if someone else in his team was in charge of that, and he found out while auditing the server, that's certainly a possibility. Then there's the fact that his post could help someone thinking about setting up a similar server rethink this and choose to move away from Microshit altogether. I agree that whomever is in charge should keep updated on information, issues and their potential solutions (I'd fire any sys admin not living by those rules, for sure). Now, if he is, in fact, responsible for that, shame on him, but he's innocent until proven guilty.

Their answer, almost invariably, is "it's not the same, everybody shits, and everybody knows it". Sometimes I wish I was able to hack some of them just to show them. That'd get them moving.

I do that all the time. I don't care if you're a christian, Muslim, Jehovah's witness or whatever else, if you come to my house uninvited to tell me why I should follow any religion, be ready for a heated debate on why that's not your place, I dont care what your leaders have made you believe. Its one thing to talk about Christ to tell anyone about Him, and then drop it and move on to a civil interaction, its an entirely different thing to splat your believes on people's faces and telling people they will go to hell if they don'tdo what you tell them. We have friends of all religions and lack of religion, and we have never attempted to change them. They know what we believe in, we know what they believe in, and none of that makes any difference. I'm glad I dont live in the US, nothing more disgusting than mixing faith with politics.
