For something that literally holds all your credentials, just it being closed source should be enough of a concern.

I used to be a fan of LG TVs (we have 3 of them, last model is a 2021 Nanocell). Because of this alone LG will never see my money again. Thanks for the warning.

I travel quite a bit for work, so for me it's a life saver.

I play some pretty demanding games such as Cyberpunk, Elden Ring and Horizon: Zero Dawn, and while it's no PS5, they run beautifully for such a small device.

The battery is not going to run me any of those games for more than an hour or so, but for that there are always those oldeis but goodies I emulate from NES all the way to PS2.

If like you say you're not a gamer, which makes me assume you'll play some games just to pass some time and kill some stress, I don't think you can find a better device to spend a couple of hundreds on and feel like it was a gift.

That is my one and only issue with Simplex. It drinks battery lika a Puerto Rican drinks rum on weekends.

Yup. Same here. Anyway, Tubular is a nice app.

PopOS is, in my opinion, the easiest distro to use to get Nvidia cards working without a sweat (as long as you install the Nvidia ISO). I don't use PopOS anymore, been on Fedora now for almost 2 years, and have had 0 issues with my 3050 after installing the drivers, but it does take a bit of configuring to get there.

Zoho will give you 5 email addresses (users) for free with your own domain. You won't be able to use IMAP or POP3, but it's well worth it at 0.00

https://temp-mail.org/en/ That site, bitwarden (self-hosted preferably, but an account with them works too), and you've got all the tools you'll ever want. If you also want to "change" your phone number on the sites you're leaving (that's always a good idea as well), you can try https://quackr.io/ but I'm not sure how good it is. I just found that site, and honestly can't remember what I used for that. All I remember is that it was a free trial of an app for 7 days, and I made sure to finish that before the trial was over. And I'm no sensei, call me Master "4th run of Horizon Zero Dawn" 🤣🤣. Just kidding, I'm just a guy that, like most of is, got tired of all the BS out there these days. I am, though, on my 4th run of that game. Good luck man, you won't regret doing this.

Do you have any FOSS oars?

I for one would not purchase any Intel hardware as long as AMD is around. Not that they're bad or anything, but AMD gives me much Kore "bang for the buck". To future proof your rig, I strongly suggest you go with the latest socket (be it Intel or AMD, doesn't matter) and make sure you get DDR5 RAM. PCI Gen 4, and then have at it.

Getting an 80 Plus Gold power supply is always nice too.

And then there's the cooling. I see you went with a radiator and fan, but I strongly suggest getting some type of liquid cooling. The prices are not that bad anymore (unlike about 10 years ago, which was insane).

As for the board, you'll get all kinds of different suggestions. Some people swear by Asus, I'd rather go with Gigabyte (love the Aorus line), so it'll come down to brand trust at the end of the day.

As for the card, I hear a lot of crap given to Nvidia about being closed source, and I sort of agree that's messed up, but ATI cards (while pretty good) are always a step behind Nvidia. Plus, most distros have them working out of the box.

It can be intimidating after so many years, but its way simpler than it was back then.

Good luck man, you got this, there's nothing to fear but fear itself.
