I have the 8 Pro, and honestly, with another 6 years of updates ahead for it, I see absolutely no reason to take the leap for such a premium. Go with the 8, the "upgrade" isn't worth all that money.

I started my kids with this when they were 4 years old. today they don't know anything other than Linux (they're 9 and 11 now).

My daughter has Nobara on her laptop and PopOS on her PC. My boy is sold on ZorinOS (I've tried to steer him to something else, but it's an uphill battle).

It blows my mind that even these companies choose to use marketing language that can confuse people when purchasing. Why mention the "duo" pricing for the family plan? Yes, I know it says "starting at", but there is no need for that. Be fully transparent. As a company selling "privacy" camouflaging the actual price with another tier's price doesn't really lead me to trust.

All my local services follow the same rules as any other service. I have no idea what the passwords are, they are all random and long as fuck in my password manager. 2FA with a hardware key where allowed, TOTP if not.

What possible reason would anyone have to "relax" or security on local services? That would mean having 2 streamlines which only adds friction.

I strongly suggest you move all your credentials out of your browsers and into a password manager.

For something relatively fast, I suggest you stick to Intel chipsets, and avoid realtek like the plague. As others mentioned, you can go with Atheros, but your speed will certainly suffer, as well as probably breaking the ability to put the computer to sleep with S3.

I understand you would rather go with 100% FOSS, but this carries trade-offs.

There are many reasons Microsoft software is only "good" (and I'm using that word loosely) in business and home settings. Can you imagine a rocket taking off and windows suddenly "rebooting to complete updates" (or whatever it is that it says along those lines)?

I don't say I trust him, don't even know him. Having said that, his videos are mostly well evidenced, and it is still super fun to see him blasting these companies.

I can't bring myself to feel sorry for Adobe users, which unfortunately include my wife. Same goes for any of the other shit services out there. It takes determination and self-control to move away from all that crap, but as a person that sees himself with less self-determination than most, I was able to pull it off, so those that don't can enjoy their hostage position.

You don't. It's already happening. Slowly but steady.

Bro, a developer (which I am not) voiced his opinion. What's the need for the toxicity? Isn't it better for everyone if we all ask questions or provide our opinions respecting others? This is the reason why ANY difference of opinion ends up turning into a heated and useless argument. If you have something to counter what he said, by all means, bring it to the table. @hperin didn't say anything out of place.

I'm a certified Microsoft hater, but man, 90 weeks? I get it, we want Gnu-Linux to be more streamlined, but his is certainly not the way. This is tech fearmongering.
